Global Underground: Anthony Pappa - Nu Breed 1

Didn't go an awful lot on this one. Some decent tunes but quite old and nothing really stood out for me.

DARK, DIRTY, AND DEVILISH! This is true underground direct house music. Pappa uses no obvious bouncy tunes here but takes you on a twisted deep journey which only he and a few others including Danny Tenaglia and Deep Dish knows how. pappa brings the goods every time and certainly for my taste in mysterious house music. You cannot fail to be blown out of the water by this mix. It grabbed me shook me around threw me up in the air. Then slammed me to the ground! The side of mixing that is inspiring to Dj's and producers. You WILL ENTER A NEW WORLD! Enjoy! BTW look at for other Nu breed collections I bought Satoshi Tomiie's double cd and that is on a par with this.

If what you're after is a deep, dark journey through the world known as trance music, then this is the CD for you.As Pappa himself says, the first CD is a funky and housey twist on the trance genre, providing the listener with wicked beats, giving the collection a real percussive feel. The highlight of the first CD for me has to be the Timo Maas remix of 'Are U Tranqualized' by Pascal F.E.O.S., which winds its way through a definite trance overlay, without the cheesey melody. Innovative and refreshing is the best way to describe this tune, as well as the entire first CD. If you have not heard 'Roaches' by Trancesetters, then it is worth buying the compilation just to get a squizz at the darkness of this tune.The second CD starts off less dark than the first, but this is just a subtle disguise in order to draw the listener in. The mix reaches it's high point with the acid grooves of 'Heavy Water' by ASAP, but it only seems so good because of the way Pappa has worked up to it. If a fright is what you need, listen carefully to the 'Blair Witch' style grooves in the sparkling 'Lydian & The Dinosaur' by Hi-Fi Bugs, at the climax of CD Two.Overall, a fantastic compilation and I recommend it to anyone with a slight taste for deep and percussive music, without the detraction of cliches.

This is an excellent cd to kick start the GU Nubreed series. Too many DJ's tried to be "Too smart" during the whole Progressive era, often resulting in mix CD's that were lacking in real energy, verging on the dull and boring. Not this CD! Anthony takes Progressive by the scruff and creates a project that will keep you fully entertained the whole way through. Credit is most certainly due......

Great cd. Delivered in fast time.First cd they sent was lost in post.But they sent out replacement.Staff had good communiocation with myself.Would recommend highly.

This is the best compilation i have heard. I've listend to this many times and always come back to it.I would describe this type of music as dark, basey with original tunes / beats that have depth.

This compliation still (5/6 years later) has the best ending to any comp I've ever heard, the 3 tracks at the end of CD2 have lost nothing of their eerie charm with the haunting breakbeats. Lydian & The Dinosaur is such an amazing piece of music, and the comp is worth buying on the strength of that alone.ps. the rest is pretty good as well

With NuBreed Anthony Pappalardo showcases Progressive House as it is today... Full of guts and very funky! What more can I say! You'll be contacting clubs for Pappas' next gig after 15 minutes of listening! BUY IT!!!
