Great
We love this bank ! We have it in nearly every color. It illustrates all of the financial principles that we as parents practice, but may have a difficult time trying to explain to our kids. This bank concept is basic, simple, easy to comprehend on their own level, and put into practice. We see this as an excellent learning tool for our kids and have purchased it as gifts for our children's friends. Our kids love to spend money, but need to learn the importance of saving, investing, and donating too. This item contains everything that we were looking for. Our only problem now, is our kids are a little too smart. They know how to put the money in, but they also know how to easily take it out too. Unfortunately, it's too easy for them to take it out. We still hold out on hope that they will eventually learn the value of saving, donating and investing when they realize that the "bank of mom and dad" has closed. It's tough love, but it's time for them to learn now how to wisely save and spend so they will have it mastered before they go off on their own as young adults to school.

good first little bank
So I of course bought this for my daughter as we are trying to teach her about the uses of currency and coin of the realm as we know that FRN nor the fake "silver" they pass off is money but rather money substitutes. Since she's 2.5 that lesson will have to wait, however we were happy to have a bank that would allow her to understand the purposes of currency and the manner in which she should disperse it.The bank is cute however the slots under the pigs feet that release the coins are really rather loose and don't snug in tightly when you close them. Overall cute bank, once she learns these lessons it's off to fractional reserve banking!

Fun way to teach kids about money
My 4 year old loves to find pennies around the house and put them in the piggy bank he got at birth. We decided to start working with him on responsibilities and getting money for chores. He has the ability to earn up to 8 pennies each day for completing his chores - there are 4 slots on the bank, so it works well for his little organized mind when he gets all 8 to put 2 in each slot. He is struggling right now with what the meaning of the 4 compartments are, but that is more a function of his age and not an issue with the bank. As both parents are accountants, we have enjoyed this and the ability to teach him about money. He is reading price tags at the grocery store now and knows that he needs to earn 99 pennies in his "spend" slot so he can buy his own sucker. We also purchased the Berenstein Bears Money Sense book to read, which is a great companion.

Still some room to grow
Was very excited to find a piggy bank with the variety of color options and the concept is great for teaching your kids how money is/can be used. However, I was not entirely thrilled with the overall quality of the product which is thin plastic and not really kid proof. I bought one for my 6-year old and one for my 4-year old. After giving them both $5 in change to get started, the purple one literally split in half down the seam, when my daughter dropped it on the floor on the way to her room. That being said, I contacted the company and they were VERY responsive and VERY compassionate and agreed to replace the purple one for the cost of shipping which I found to be a good resolution to the issue. I would still say for the cost of the piggy bank the plastic should be a bit more durable for it to get a higher overall rating.

Great for teaching my kids financial stewardship!
I ordered two of these for my daughters (3 & 5) to start teaching a financial stewardship foundation.I love that each individual slot is separated so they truly see how much they have per category. It came with stickers so they can decide what icon the want per category. They are slightly smaller than expected- I should have looked at dimensioned, so you will not be able to fit a lot of money in the spread out compartments. For younger children this is fine but for older children you might need a plan of what to do once it fills up.You can add bills to it but you will want to fold them multiple times so they easily slip out the bottom.

You can bank on the Money Savvy Pig
I chose this gift for my 6-year old grandson and he was fascinated with the idea of the differentareas in which to save money for yourself, to help others, have some spending money, and to invest. He's quite young to grasp all this but he has a head start on learning about it with the Money Savvy Pig.Best of all his parents had just been talking about teaching money concepts to their kids. This gift is a winner.
