So good and cheap it almost split up my church
our church band director wanted to buy a +$150 mic for a kid's violin given that the regular violin mic kept falling off and we couldn't find any practical workaround. The pastor told me to find them a mic so I found this beauty and got it for them. It works really well, so well that we ended up using it for our live event. However, when the band director found out the pastor had bought the $50 mic instead of the $150 mic, they threw a huge fit about how the pastor has a house but won't buy an $150 mic. The mic really does work that well. You'll wonder why anybody would ever pay more than $50 for a tiny gooseneck mic. If you buy this mic just tell the band director it cost you $150; with the quality of the mic, they will believe you

Fits my viola. Sound quality is surprisingly good for $40.
I bought this as a test to see how it compares to other violin/viola mics. Not too bad! I was very surprised to see it stretch to fit my viola without too much force. Pros: -Cheap -Sounds okay, you can adjust the positioning to get different tonal qualities -Fits securely with the springs Cons: -Cheap material. Mounting bracket is clearly made of cheap plastic and the springs will probably break after a short while. The wire is very thin and it can easily be tore up if not cared for properly. -I expect it to last no more than 3 months of steady use -Cable is a little short and connector only works with Shure bodypacks (TA4 connector) -Definitely use this with a preamp to clean up the signal. Dial in a high pass filter and find a decent EQ to get the most out of this $40 mic

Good for the price
This has springs and little suction cups that hold the mic onto the instrument safely. It works well, though I can’t speak too much to the sound quality since I was not in the audience, but others said it sounded good. I did have to periodically readjust the mic’s position to keep it in my preferred location.

This is an omnidirectional mic and not usable on a violin
This is an omnidirectional microphone and is not usable on a violin. The cheap sound of the mic is not usable on the stage. You will deal with the feedback. I am keeping this "mic" because of the flex line and microphone mounting clip. I've replaced this mic with a Shure CVL-TQG Lavalier Microphone.
