DHA Brake Bleeding Kit Hand Held Vacuum Pump Pressure Tester

Many decades working around motorcycles so bleeding brakes is easy for me from classics to modern, although when you are working on a dry system for example in this case a new reservoir and hose it can be time-consuming, even using a reverse bleed method which is quite common. But I thought for £13 I would try this the price for a cheap bottle of wine. INCREDIBLE fully bleed in 15 mins!!!!! Doing it, the old way would take at least an hour maybe a hour an half from a dry system. It took me with this cheap tool 15 minutes from 100% dry system. I would say read instructions there very simple but read the instructions and you won’t be disappointed. I am absolutely delighted with this and if it doesn’t last it’s a bottle of wine I don’t purchase, absolutely delighted customer.

Very nice quality.. As another reviewer has said, I would ignore the cheap plastic hose and the added adaptors.. Just go onto Amazon and order some Silicon hose of the correct diameter. The core Vacuum unit is a very nice quality.. And that is what matters. The "Add-ons" are neither here nor there.. Throw the "add-ons" and simply use what you bought it for.. Highly recommended

I used this vacuum pump to bleed a brake sytem on a recreational aircraft that I could not bleed properly with a standard pressure bleeder. Once I got the vacuum pumps set up properly with a good air tight seal at the brake bleed nipple it efficiently pulled the trapped air out of the brake system. The vacuum pump worked well but like other reviewers I found the rubber connectors that fit onto the bleed nipple leaked badly. I solved the problem by using a short length of silicone tube to connect from the vacuum device bleed pipe onto the caliper bleed nipple. I also found it necessary to seal the thread on the bleed nipple with PTFE tape to stop the vacuum device pulling air along the bleed nipple thread. So in summary a bit of a faff to set up but it then quickly bled the air out of a system that proved impossible to bleed with a standard pressure bleeding kit. Money well spent even if it only ever gets used on this one job. I downgraded the rating from 5 to 4 because an otherwise excellent kit was let down by the leaky rubber connectors provided with the kit.

Honestly, for the price it made re-building and bleeding my breaks super easy, its fairly well built (for the price) and i did not seem to have any problems with leaking, the instructions are clear and straightforward it works like a charm!

I was most interested in using this to make the job of bleedingbike brake calipers easier than doing it 100% manually. This product doesn't help at all. The fitting onto the brake caliper bleed nipple is not as tight as it needs to be and air is introduced. The worst part is the fluid capturing bottle. It's flimsy and low quality, and again air is introduced as it is not air tight (which is fundamental for it to work effectively). I ended up going back to the fully manual method as it works effectively, just takes longer.

I did have high hopes for this product (having read some good reviews here). It's a great price, well presented in its plastic box and has good instructions. .... but that's where it ends! In practice, it's absolutely hopeless! Although it does pull & hold a vacuum, the primary problem seems to be that air leaks past any bleed screw thread when loosened instantly killing the vacuum. Other reviewers mention problems getting the plastic caps to seal on the bleed nipples. Yes, this is true, but, even if you dispense with the caps & just push the plastic pipe DIRECTLY onto the nipple, it still suffers with air leaking past the bleed screw threads. Also, it's not particularly clear how to seat the seal in its reservoir. I'm sure many purchasers have failed to get a vacuum just because of this one issue!! After 3 attempts to get this thing to work, I eventually gave up & used a conventional gravity bleed technique using my own piping into a glass jar!! Unit has since been returned for a refund. Now considering a more expensive master cyl. pressurised system. Vacuuming just doesn't work!

I recently bought a new to me car which has been an absolute nightmare! It had the turbo refurbed straight away as that was on the way out, but I needed to check if the actuator was working correctly as the refurb company didn't fully clarify. This kit had everything that I needed to confirm - just hook the vacuum hose up to the actuator (I had to use a clear hose and one of the adaptors to get it to the correct size which are included in this kit) and then press it a few times to build up a vacuum. If the actuator has a split diaphragm it will not hold vacuum or leak whereas if ok you will be able to see the actuator rod moving up and down (which opens the vanes in the turbo). I've attached a small video showing the speed it builds up the vacuum and then you can see towards the end of the video when you release the pressure by holding the small metal pin under the dial the rod moves back into position. I don't know how long it will last but it's already saved me a garage bill to confirm the actuator was ok as well as confirming all the new vacuum pipes I fitted were holding vacuum as expected.

This is a great tool, not overly expensive but great quality and value for the money, this kit allows you to work with a positive or negative pressure on the fluid. It is very easy to use and simple to clean, comes in a well made carry case with a wide selection of fittings and spare seals.
