Munchkin Vibe Mesh and Steel Baby Gate, Cherry, Model MKSA0511-011

I love this gate so far. We have two dogs and a baby on the way, so I wanted something that looked good, would last, and would not damage my walls. It looks great and was super easy to install (maybe 30 minutes max from start to finish). As someone else called it, the “Apple of baby gates.” I really wanted to give it a 5 star rating, however the product information and comments from the manufaturer (under Amazon’s Question feature) are misleading. I purchased this gate because it was a pressure-mounted gate (among other things). I did not want a gate that screwed into walls, doorways, etc. It was quite the surprise when upon reading the installation instructions it boldly states “Do not use this gate in any location without using all 4 wall cups, sticky pads, and screws provided when installing the gate.” See photos (but ignore the gap between the floor and bottom bar...my floors are not level). Nowhere in the product description does it mention this little disclaimer. Even the box exterior does not mention screws as a mandatory part of installation. While it does seem to work without the wall cups and screws, I have a feeling that if I had any issues with the gate, they would use this disclaimer as a way to get out of the issue. The warning on the box has the usual “...use according to the manufacture’s instructions.” So, while I love the gate so far, due to being mislead I give it 4 stars.

I received this product in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.This baby gate is very nice, it serves it's purpose extremely well and looks good at the same time. My three year old is absolutely obsessed with anything pink and was THRILLED when we opened the (well packed and protected) box. The gate was incredibly easy to install, it only took me 10 minutes or so and was very secure when in place. I'm not worried about my one year old leaning on it and the whole thing falling over at all. I would feel comfortable installing it at the top of the stairs. It comes with little switches on the base so that if you do want to install it on a stairway, it can be set not open over the stairs.It's very important to me that we have gates that my three year old can open himself so that we can block the baby from going down the stairs/into the bathroom/etc but still allow the three year old to do so. Once I showed him how it opened he was able to do so with a little bit of effort. Now, this could be a negative, depending on who exactly you're trying to contain, but for us it is a good thing.The only thing I would improve about this gate is that it doesn't automatically close after being opened. Because we DO want our older child to be able to open it we don't quite trust him to make sure it's closed every single time and for that reason we likely wouldn't use it in a place that would be dangerous (stairs etc) for our younger child to go. That being said, automatically closing wasn't at all an advertised feature, so I didn't expect it to do so and am not disappointed that it does not.Overall the gate is a wonderful choice for anybody who wants a gate that is both functional and stylish and I would absolutely buy it myself.

I've owned a ton of baby gates over the years for kids, pets, you name it. This by far, is the best one. More money than most, but so sturdy, and easy to install/use.

This is a cute gate but my two year old opened it on his first try. I am going to try to tighten it and will update with a higher ranking if it tightens.

Everyone comments on how nice this gate is and admires the mechanics. I wish it weren't so expensive and I would buy more.

 I was so excited to receive this gate! This was in exchange for an honest review. It arrived well packaged to prevent any damage while on route to our home. My husband put this together and it took him about fifteen minutes to assemble. To say the truth, at first I wasn't sure if I was gong to like it but after a few days I changed my mind! It is very sturdy and the one thing I absolutely love about this gate it is not hard to open at all! Press a notch eith tei fingers and it's open. We also have two other brands of gates in our home and we must explain to all the guests that come over how to open it (squeeze handle and push) and it is still difficult for them to do after the explanation. Also my older siblings have no problem of handling this Muchkin gate either. A plus for us parents! This gate is also good for someone who has arthritis or carpal tunnel. A click and its open and less stress on hands. It also has a special feature at the bottom that you can put down for more protection but we don't use that. The pretty color of the gate adds a sense of warmth to the home.

Great gate for the basement, lighter weight than the auto-close gates. Looks nice for a baby/dog gate!

First gate was delivered damaged, had to return it. The second gate was installed, but the bottom latch which allows gate to be opened to only one direction was loose. Our toddler can wiggle the gate hard enough to push through the door on it. Very frustrating, and not very good quality considering the price of this product...
