Review: One of many essential tools for CLEP Prep - Without this book, I know I wouldn't have passed the CLEP test. This book was recommended to me by the admissions officer of my trade school. It arrived quickly, and the online diagnostic and practice tests are user-friendly and excellent for gauging one's strengths and weaknesses. The practice tests (along with all of the answers, complete with explanations) are also printed in the book. I found taking notes from the material covered in the answer explanations was especially helpful. The guide is pretty clear and touches on MOST topics covered in the CLEP Test, but do yourself a favor and RENT a biology textbook for extra explanations and clarity. I used Human Biology by Sylvia Mader. And a self-teaching biology book is super helpful, too. I liked Biology: A Self-Teaching Guide (Wiley Self Teaching Guides) by Steven D. Garber. He just came out with a new, very up-to-date edition - even mentions COVID-19! The Crash Course Biology videos on YouTube are fun and helpful, albeit a bit fast-paced. Between taking notes, making and practicing with vocabulary flash cards, watching the Crash Course videos and taking/reviewing practice tests, I managed a 57. You need a 50 to get into most schools. Good luck! Review: I passed!!! - I passed bio Clep, this book was helpful. My advice to you! 1st). I used Modern States to get a free voucher to take the Clep. So the test was free 2) I used You tube video โThe Amoeba Sistersโ, for concepts that I just couldnโt get. They have a final biology review, 2) Take the two tests in the back of the book, 3) take the tests online that you have to register for. If you get at least an 80 on all of the practice tests and understand the concepts you will pass! 4) Quizlet bio Clep study flash cards also helped, what helped the most was Free-Clep-Prep.com there is a free test you can take, it had questions similar to the test, and they offer free study guides to read up in concepts that you may not understand. Iโm not a fan of Biology and I passed, no problem, and so will you! You got this!

Daughter passed her test!
My daughter went from pretty shaky to pretty confident after thoroughly studying this book. She made flash cards from the overview material and studied them to death. She also added flash cards from all the wrong answers when she took a practice test. She was getting 83-85% on all her practice tests at the end, and scored a 67 on the test!

Good material bad format.
overall the material in the book was good preparation for the test. The practices tests were, however, not the same format as the actual test. The book encourages one to take the practice tests on REA's website so that one can familiarize one's self with the format of the actual test. Also there were several technical difficulties with the online tests. There were loads of errors in the diagnostic test. but each of the practice tests had only one error that I noticed. The first practice test had one question which I selected the right answer but the test said I got the wrong answer (however the explanation of why the answer was wrong said my answer was right). The second test had one question which the only had 4 possible choices instead of 5, the 5th missing answer was the correct one. there were four or five questions with no answers to select. I would not recommend this product, however, I did pass the test using this as my only study guide, so I would not consider the product a total waste.

This book is good but NOT great.
I just took my CLEP Biology yesterday and walked away with the score of 62. Which is very frustrated because I need a score of 63 to be exempted from 2 classes for my university, therefore, I'm only able to exempt one for this score. This book is very helpful and informative. If you have zero clue about biology or forgot most of the concepts, this book can help you pick up those basic concepts pretty quick. But again, this book is not enough for the real CLEP exam. If you use solely this book without any additional materials or previous knowledge, you might only score a low 50 or even worse. If you want to score higher or play it safe, DO study other material as well. I used "Biology: A Self-Teaching Guide, 2nd edition" by Steven Daniel Garber for additional note and knowledge. Although there might be a little bit more knowledge than you really need on CLEP exam in the book, but it is still a good book to help you gain extra understanding on biology. Also, I watched some online biology materials, such as Khan Academic. Or you can simply search on the Youtube for those concepts that you are having a difficult time to understand, there are lots of great informative video out there. Finally, I recommend to do sample questions on "Modern States", the sample questions they have are provided by official CLEP study guide. Make sure you understand those sample questions, they can be potentially very helpful. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I used 3rd edition and I believe there are a few typos in this book, feel free correct me if I'm wrong. P.42 ETC, the second step in aerobic respiration, should produce 34 ATP instead of 32 ATP. The total ATP that aerobic pathway produces should add up to 38 ATP in total. (Glycolysis 2 ATP, Kerbs Cycle 2 ATP, and ETC 34 ATP) P. 101 As energy pass up a level, there should be 90% is lost as heat, not 10%. (Only 10% of energy pass up)

Good value. Good study aid. Seems to be accurately predictive
Good study guide. Fast read. On-line test scores coincided closely with my daughters actual CLEP scores which were well above what she needed to pass. The sample test feedback allowed her to identify weak areas for focused study. She estimates 6-8 hours total study time including reading the book, taking tests, and then doing more focused study on a couple of weak areas. She thinks she was much less likely to pass without this study system. It should be noted that her sample test scores were very close to her actual CLEP test scores so the sample tests appear to be accurately predictive of how one will score on the CLEP. My only suggestion would be that a couple more sample tests be added for those who require more study time to allow testing for improvement.

Perfect for studying.
I bought this so that I could take the CLEP exam for Biology. This has excellent information, and the practice exams are invaluable. I have no regrets with this purchase and will actually keep this book in my personal library because it is just great information, and makes my geek self happy.

Really Helpful!
I loved this book as the language is fairly simple, and allowed me to confidently take my exam. I did not struggle with the topics and overall I would say they where pretty accurate to what I was tested on. The book also came in perfect condition and on time!
