Great for studying k-12 math
this is a great workbook for studying math, even if you aren't using it for the GED test. If you never really understood certain things in math that they taught from elementary through high school, or if you just need to refresh your knowledge before taking the GED or starting college, then this book should help you. It goes back and explains EVERYTHING-it even skims over addition in the beginning. It's also great because the paperback is pretty light weight but easy to work in. It even has pages for Notes and definitions of math words in the back. It really is an all in one math "tutor" book. The breakdowns are not too difficult to understand, nor are they kindergarten easy. I bought this because I haven't taken a real math class in over a year and need to pass the GED test, but I think this book could help anyone who is behind in math. I'll even keep this to refer back to when I'm in college. Also, make sure to order it from here on Amazon because the official GED website overcharges a few dollars more.

Easy to follow and comprehensive
I hadn't studied mathematics for some 25 years and needed to take a test. This is comprehensive and easy to follow. The GED official website recommends it and even tells you which pages to refer to after you take your mock test (GED Ready), as it does with other books. This was my pick, and I am happy. After 2 weeks taking these exercises, I passed my test easily (even though I am still bad at math).

Great tool for those who want to learn
I went this route when I was in school only because I needed to get out and work early on and school was basically boring to me. I make over 200k a year now so its all about your attitude. Bought this and a few others for my underperforming daughter-in-law. Well, not enough bells and whistles to make her pick it up so what are you going to do? I'd say that if they don't go and buy themselves then don't try to force it on um. Guess she will stay a 9th grade educated dingbat.

Great book!
The friend to whom I sent this told me that this is great for studying for the TABE. She is using it as an adjunct to the McGraw-Hill "Ed. Prep. for the GED Test" and says there are an abundance of practice examples and the text explanations are clear.I have not seen the book. I had to have it shipped directly to her, as she is an inmate, but I trust her evaluation bcs her foundation in math was not strong. mb

A Must Have Book
This is a must have book to study the GED math. I had looked at other books, but this was the best and easiest to follow. It starts with the simplest math, then graduates up to Algebra and Geometry. You should get the calculator used in the actual test, in order to follow along.Since it has been many years since high school or using most math skills in life, this really was the best means to brush up on math

Helpful, but needs improvement.
It was helpful, but they really need to lay out the sample problems line by line instead of in long strings of text. It can be hard to decipher the instructions and steps for each problem. I passed the test, though. Also, the calculator tutorials were good (one leads to a syntax error, but the rest worked fine).
