Dear Chief Rory
This is the final episode of the Order of the Broken Blade; a series that I loved. I say "episode" because that is what it felt like to me. I know it was a novella but could you have not made it a little longer and given us the wedding where all the men & their mates would be there? Could you not have presented Rory to his clan in the great hall where he would get the reception he deserved? Rory has been SO patient waiting in the wings in the shadow of his brother. IMO, he was owed a proper presentation to the clan as their new chief with all the happiness and joy that went with it along with a wedding joined by all of the rest of the cast of this series in the audience. It just felt like it was a very abrupt ending without completion for our dear Rory. As a loyal fan of Ms. Mecca, I would be remiss if I did not give my honest opinion. That being said, I will be taking a star away for my disappointment.

Cecelia Mecca ... The Chief: A Medieval Friends to Lovers Romance (Order of the Broken Blade Book 5)
We met Rory in the earlier books of the Broken Blade: loyal twin brother playing second to his twin brother as chief of the highland clan or riding with clan warriors to the rescue just in time when Terric is attacked by his enemies in England. In this book, we get to know the real Rory. On St. Valentine's Day the belief that the first single man a young maid sees on this day is her true love proves to be true for Cristane. Of course, Cristane has always loved Rory. The question this story answers is can Rory step up to take over leading the clan as true chief and will he chose to marry a maid without noble blood? Shorter than the other four Broken Blade books but just as full of danger, love, and interesting plot twists that help Rory make his decisions.

Outstanding!!! I read the second series first so I was a little confused
I'm going to go back and figure out who is who. One book has a family tree. Don't remember which one. . I'll look for it first. It would be helpful to see it in all the books in both series. I think I've read all the Cecelia Mecca books that I want now. Excellent!! I don't care for fantasy, time travel, or contemporary.

Great love story
I enjoyed this book. Rory and Chrisane were in love with each other but she thought she was not in the same class as Rory.

Excellent
This book was excellent as were the other 4 in the series. I think I like Rory best of all, but his story was definetely to short.

Spectacular!
A beautiful story and fantastic read! A magnificent plot takes us through the aftermath of the Order’s quest being fulfilled. The characters are so well done you can picture them. ENJOY!

Time to grow up
All the books in this series point to something I've believed for a long time, men may be physically strong but they are more fragile emotionally. Fortunately, the brawny men in this series have incredible women with emotional strength and physical courage. It was encouraging to see that this book dealt with social status and characters that were strong enough to lead the lives they wanted despite the norms of the time.

A Tantalising Glimpse
Rory Kennaugh is Terrics younger brother. Being born a few minutes apart makes the difference between being an English Earl and Scottish clan chief and being the chiefs nominated second in command. Rory, however never wanted to be clan chief - or so he always says, and Terric has never believed Rory mature enough to take on the role, despite the fact that he left him in charge in Scotland while Terric and the rest of the friends who formed the Order of the Broken Blade pursue their aim to bring the King of England in line with his subjects wishes.Cristane has worked her way up to become Caits lady’s maid, but now Cait is in England with her new husband and Cristane is biding time waiting for the summons to join her mistress. She has known Cait since they were children - as much friend as maid, has also been friends with Terric and Rory but for her, Rory has been much more than a friend. She has been in love with him for as long as she can remember and keeping her feelings hidden is becoming more difficult as time passes, especially as she knows his true feelings about becoming clan chief. Will Rory uncover Cristanes true emotions? Does he have similar affection for her, and if so can they overcome the class barrier? This, as book 5 of the series, does not really fit in with the Order of the Broken Blade, and to me comes across as a bit of an afterthought. I welcomed the idea of reading Rorys story, as from the mentions of him previously he really did appeal to me. As it was, I enjoyed the short story, notwithstanding the predictability but I wish more was made of him, as he really did deserve a full length novel rather than just a tantalising glimpse of the man.

Wonderful and enjoyable ending to the series
❤️❤️❤️❤️1/2💋💋Their lands are under threat , the enemy another Scottish clan, the Chance target is the woman he’s known for years ,and never realised he had such strong feelings for. With his brother Terric , the Earl and clan leader ,away fighting against British tyranny with the other members of The Order of the Broken Blade, it up to Rory to show what he’s made of , and to prove he’s good enough to be the real leader of his clan , The Chief .A wonderful finale to this addictive series. From first meeting the character I adored Rory, a womaniser, much underrated and great fun to be around Character. He was a mystery in so many ways , I wanted to unwrap and understand him .Cecelia has done that perfectly I think. He’s very thoughtful, a loving son , like most men he misses what’s right in his face , but he’s quick to act and defend, he’s a passionate man and he knows he has flaws.A wonderful hero in true Cecelia Mecca style. My only slight complaint is that this is a novella and I would have loved more of this man an his fight for his love and clan.In all , brilliant book stunning characters and great addition and ending.4 1/2 StarsI received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

Order of the Broken Blade
I have read all 5 of these books and enjoyed them immensely. The stories are unique and gripping. Strong men and sometimes even stronger women. I love when the characters you have come to care about appear in each others stories, it means you can follow what happens to them after their story is done.

A sweet way to end a lovely series
This novella was sweet and sexy and gave us the answers of what happened to Rory. I'm so glad Cecelia decided to tie up this series with this sweet valentine's story.
