Coffee Extra Dark Italian Whole Bean Coffee, 2 lb bag

Still the best for my love of espresso. I prefer a smooth, rich taste that I don't find in competing espresso beans (most are labelled "medium dark roast" thus not a deep a flavor flavor I seek. Thus, SF Bay Dark Italian is the only bean I found that gives that robust flavor I crave. I have been a SF Bay customer several years now, a quality coffee roaster.

Tried this on a recommended coffee to me while searching. Whole bean offering has a wonderful aroma when you open the bag every morning. Grinds well, little static with conical grind as the natural coffee bean oils remained through their roasting and production process. However, this isn’t always a mark of freshness, stale coffee can develop a rancid, acidic flavor while retaining a beautiful oily sheen. This was not the case, and every cup was consistent and flavorful. The only downside I would give for this coffee was the bag. Initially, I held the beans in the bag and rolled it closed with a spring clip on top. After I ground roughly a little more than half the bag, I did notice flavor change in the coffee and the beginning of higher acidity in the flavor profile. With a bag this size, this is not uncommon, in the future I will keep the unground beans in an airtight container before use.

I love the flavor. It is rich and bold. However, several times I have had to cancel the order because of going days without receiving it. It is always advertised as next day but just an FYI, it may not happen.

I love this coffee, but we cannot really drink the Extra Dark because it's too bitter/strong. Not really complaining because the Extra part is accurate for those who love the dark black/starbucks style.
