The case has good balance overall and can be stood up vertically without ...
I was confronted with having to transport my bass guitar via the airlines and did a fair amount of research before picking this case. It was a tough decision made tougher by conflicting reviews, the case price, and size. My bass is a Fender 5 string Jazz bass II, probably worth more to me in sentimental value as opposed to resale. I finally decided on this case, and just came back from my first trip with it. Some observations:1. This case is not small. It fits under one of the beds in my house, but just barely. It fit into the back of a small rental car with some struggle.2. This case is not light. With bass, cables, and other miscellanea it was 35lbs. on the scale at the airport. If you gig a bunch locally it will probably not be your default case if you get tired of lugging gear.3. The exterior is well made, and seems to seal well when closed. It definitely gives you a feeling that your instrument is protected.4. As another reviewer pointed out: the internals of this case are not 'plush'. Actually there is a plush strip on the lid of the case where the fretboard could potentially make contact. If you think about it this is by design: the purpose of this case is to protect the guitar in an environment where it will be potentially stored upside down, thrown, and have things stacked upon it. If the guitar is moving vertically inside the case this could cause damage.5. As another reviewer said: it will be assumed that you are bringing a hunting rifle through luggage.6. I had some concerns that my 5 string bass would fit in the cavity, this was a complete non-issue. I believe this case could support many jazz or precision style bodied basses up to 6 strings. As a matter of fact, I had to shove two small towels around the bass body horns to keep it locked against the cavity since there is so much room. My concern is that the bass would move around in the cutout cavity and the head stock would bang against the other side of the case in transit. The towel trick seemed to work well.7. I could not tell if the strings were making contact with the 'plush' part of the case lid. I followed a suggestion I read online and loosened the strings prior to transit.8. The wheels definitely help, as do the handles located around the case. The case has good balance overall and can be stood up vertically without having to hold it (at least mine could).Overall I am happy with the purchase. A bass is obviously a larger scale when compared to a guitar, so I felt like I would have to check it into luggage at the airline. This case gave me piece of mind. It was a little hard to pony up the $$$, but after one trip I have several large gashes on the outside of the case. It was also raining when I was getting off the plane - something to consider.I hope this review helps somebody to make a final decision.

Great protection -- love this case
Had to buy a case for a gig I'm flying to. After looking at a few other less expensive models I finally found this one. What a great case. Heavy duty all around. Multiple handles, wheels, quality latches and 2 TSA locks. Interior is nicely finished. Lots of storage space as well. I had to use a folded up hand-towel to make my bass (MusicMan Sterling) fit snug but I have no reservations about checking this w/the airline.A little bigger, heavier and more expensive than some other TSA cases but you get what you pay for IMO.EDIT: Just back from my first flyaway gig with this case. Performed perfectly. Not a scratch or any damage to my bass. The wheels are great for getting around. TSA locks worked as advertised. I found a notice inside the case that TSA agents had opened and inspected my bass. They were even kind enough to lock it up again. Bass was perfectly in tune after traveling 1000+ miles.

Super case for bass player on the go
My Fender Jazz fits great inside this case (looks like a Precision style body would fit nicely as well). There is a lot of room for storage to bring cables / strings and even a smaller sized effect pedal has been crammed in there .I have flown with this as checked luggage with my main instrument and feel secure in doing so.This is a large case and is pretty heavy but fortunately the wheels make lugging it around much easier. Many people will think you are toting a large tactical weapon around so be ready for some stares at the airport.I've used several cases by SKB made of this material and it seems to hold up very well over time -- highly recommended.

Interior is Like a Rock
For the price you would think that the interior of the case would be nice. The foam is rock hard with no padding, not acceptable for by favorite strat that i splurged and purcahsed this case for. The outside of the case is durable but i find the latches a bit hard to work. Overall an ok case but not for the price. I will be returning and looking for other options.

Great case
This case is large and heavy, just want I ordered. If you want a smaller case, get the non TSA one.

This case is a winner!
This bass case is amazing! The build quality is outstanding and I bet you could run it over with a truck and your bass would be fine. Although this case is a bit larger and heavier than other bass cases, the wheels and comfortable handles make it a breeze to transport. It's certainly a winner and if I had the cash, I'd have one of these for every single one of my instruments.

Solid Case
Case came as advertised. The interior padding is a little firm but it is covered with a nice lining so really a non factor. Plenty tough enough to with stand riggers of airline travel and the built in wheels are great. A little extra room for my bass but I believe when the case is closd and snapped shut it holds the bass firmly in place. Or a small towel will do the trick. Can't go wrong with this case.
