This thing is great at what it's designed to do, cuts right though everything like a hot knife through butter. My only warning is that you really should use the included safety cap or buy a pair of cutting gloves and be minful of the blades when washing. Through every fault of my own I ended up in the E.R. the first time I used the V-blade after also taking off a piece of the tip of my thumb. Overall a great product.

I am returning this. As soon as I took it out of the box, pieces were falling all over the place! The extra blades just sit in the box, they don't lock in at all. Therefore, any time the box gets tipped, the blades fall out. The blades are sharp, so this is dangerous. Also, the plastic is flimsy. I have only had a Pampered Chef Mandoline slicer before, but I didn't want to pay that much, so I decided to try this. I guess I will keep looking or decide to spend more money for quality. This slicer was not worth the money.

I was moderately impressed with how sturdy this product actually was when I went to use it. It has 4 different blades so it is versatile. We love Spam and potato casserole, so this has come in real handy to slice up potatoes for our family recipe.Changing out of the four different blade inserts is easy and safe, you just have to press a button on the underside of the slicer. It comes with a insert blade caddy as well. A huge problem with the caddy is the caddy does not lock in the inserts, so if it gets tipped over, the inserts will fall out, and the two of them with the Julianne blades are extremely sharp. With the 1.5mm blade, we can make thin potato chip slices, and the thicker 3.5mm blade we can make our slices for the casserole.I have not as of yet used the Julianne blades, but maybe they will come in handy when I try out a Cole Slaw recipe soon. The heavy duty ABS plastic is really easy to rinse clean and this product is dish washer safe.I was VERY disappointed the unit did not come with directions. I had no choice but to go out and find reviews on the use of other mandolin slicers to get a clue, as I am not an experienced cook in the kitchen. I found it to be a bit hard to use with really super fresh potatoes. Maybe it would slice older softer potatoes.If I were to improve on this product, I would have added deeper finger ridges on the side of the food holder. The fact the ridges are barely visible, makes for a slippery food holder, that could end badly for your fingers. Also, the food holder ridges meant to ride on the outside of the rails, just doesn't seem to hold in place. Being there were no directions, I don't know if I was using the unit correctly as the manufacturer may have intended.Overall, I am not real excited to try to use this product again, and it will end up sitting in the box. I will have to try out another slicer, because I really want to make casseroles faster.

Awesome customer service! Extra star for that, about 3 stars for the slicerIt's a good mandoline slicer and I bought it because it had such great reviews. Does what it's suppose to do and it's small compared to other mandoline slicers so it's easy to store. I like that its simple but still comes with different sized and julienne slicer plates. The biggest problem I had was the extremely exposed blade. I couldn't just shove it into a drawer because the potential of cutting myself when rummaging is pretty high, so I contacted their customer service and unfortunately there isn't anything they could do so they just gave me a refund, no questions asked and didn't make me send anything back. So now as a storage method, I put the slicer + hand guard on top of the blade into a little baggie which works great (*If Deluxe Cook is reading this, selling it with a storage bag/container would be a great improvement!).It does take a little getting use to compared to the mandoline slicers with a stand, with this one you have to steady the slicer in one hand and slice using the other hand and maneuver your body weight + force accordingly otherwise you risk cutting yourself. Nonetheless, for the price, it totally beats slicing by hand. Gets the job done in less than half the time.

It worked well but is a bit clunky and very sharp so I'd recommend using gloves. That's not the reason for the 1-star review though. I Bought last month and used a couple times. After washing after use 3, I'm already seeing visible rust on the "stainless steel". Not certain what metal they are using, but this made in china food prep device will be going in the trash. Beware, this is not as advertised or real stainless steel.

I bought this because of the price. I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money. I'm so impressed with the quality and that it comes with a lifetime warranty. I also love the size of it! Definitely a great buy!

Just got back from the urgent care clinic. Was slicing veggies for a salad today with this slicer. The thing that is supposed to hold onto veggies while you slice did not work well with raw/hard carrots so I tried slicing without it (no instructions came with this product). I ended up taking a chunk out of my thumb. It did work well with slicing cucumber. Was planning to do potatoes/fries with it, but they'd be awfully skinny. I was hoping for thicker slicing ability.

Love this cutter. It cuts potatoes with no problem. I was assured by the manufacture that the material was a special plastic & should hold up quite well. I have used it a lot and have had no problems.
