4M Electric Plane Launcher Kit

I couldn't get this to work and then read a lot of reviews saying how this thing was a piece of junk and a waste of money, etc. Like a lot of people, I was initially disappointed. However, this is NOT a toy you take out of the box, put batteries in, and done. It's a science experiment that requires just a little bit of patience and effort, things that seem to be sorely lacking with kids and parents these days. If you take the time to actually read the instructions, it's no more than a five minute build and it works fine. With a little bit of experimenting you can come up with different types of planes that fly just right. For additional support I took off the red wire connectors and went ahead and soldered the connections together once I had everything in place. We used it as a game for my son's 7th birthday party, and it was a massive success.If you don't want to think or put any effort into it, save your money. This will be a waste of time for you. If you're looking to teach yourself and your kids the basics of electrical connections and aerodynamics, you've come to the right place.

This launcher actually works better than I had expected in regards to how far it can launch a plane. My 11 year old son is using it for a science fair and it's exactly what he needed. It requires assembly, and some tinkering, which is much easier than you think when you see the bag of parts. The hardest part is getting the motors in the holes. You don't have to make them bigger, just wiggle and push. You need those holes tight, I'll get back to that. The instructions aren't the greatest but it's not too hard to figure out. Just don't stick the battery pack on the way it shows you or the suction cups won't touch your table. And there's no exact measurements for trimming the wires. Just use what you need and leave yourself a little bit of slack. Better to be long than short. If you find that the plane barely launches then you need to adjust to angle of the motors to close the gap in between the pulleys. That's why you need those motor holes tight. I really enjoyed the build with my son, which he did most of, and it was a great opportunity to show him the basics of electricity.

My six-year-old grandson had so much fun putting this launcher together and then using it to launch his paper airplanes. It's not terribly durable, but it's adequate. The directions are not that precise but in the end we did figured it. It was good problem-solving experience for both of us! I highly recommend this for any science-oriented kid or kid that loves paper airplanes. Does require assistance from an adult though - simply to work through the directions.

The kit was very easy to build (others said it was difficult, but it seems like the manufacturer may have simplified it).It is not useful at all for the purpose we had in mind: a school science fair. My son wanted to have a way to consistently launch planes to compare their performance. This launcher will not launch a single plane in a way that meets the need. The motors are so weak that as soon as the plane begins to go through, the thing bogs down and stops. We have tried many designs, including the one suggested in the instructions. No success. I do not recommend this product.

I bought this for a friend's 7 year old son that is totally into airplanes. He loved the toy. His dad did too by the way. They had been playing with it fine all day then when I came by for a demonstration it wasn't quite working. It operated normally the planes just didn't seem to go through the launcher anymore. The paper planes you use have to be super thin and straight. Other than that for the price it's a neat toy.

This looked like fun and just the thing for my paper airplane loving 13 year old. Too bad , but this product is a bust. My son enjoyed putting it together and was excited to try it. It works, but it just doesn't launch them that far. My son said he doesn't see the point as he can easily throw it way farther. I should have listened to the very mixed reviews and save my $$.

Grand kids had great fun with it. The 10 year old boy really enjoyed putting it together with me, And all three kids (the 10 year old, 8 year old girl and 13 year old boy) made different paper airplane designs and launched them for hours. The longest they have put down their ipads in a while.Its not great engineering or very well made, but for 10 bucks what do you expect. It was well worth the investment.

Really good little "toy"; it's fairly easy to put together. The first one I ordered had a faulty on/off switch. I checked my assembly and tested it, but the supplies switch was no good. I contacted vendor, they sent me a replacement immediately! The new one works like a charm! My son and his friend are using it for a science fair project, testing different paper planes and their flight distances. They love it. Is highly recommend it.
