Communication between and lenses and camera is faulty please clean contacts . I did and it is malfunctioning any advice?

I had the exact same problem about 3 months ago. brought it to a camera repair shop (not easy to find these days with all the big box stores) and was told after some testing that the lens would need to be sent to Canon for repair. Quoted around $300+/- $100 for repair (and at least 2 months of waiting), I chose to purchase a used lens for $250 (that I can use immediately) and will send in the broken lens when I can afford to. The very helpful gentleman at the camera shop told me leaving the camera in continuous shot mode and manual settings caused the aperture to get stuck open which may have caused the communication error.My best advice, seek out a camera shop and ask to test a new lens on your body and/or your lens on a new body. That could narrow down your problem.

will this work with Rebel T3?

Yes, this works with a Rebel T3. It's a decent all-around lens, but my experience is that it isn't quite wide enough (I shoot underwater mostly), and macro doesn't let you get quite close enough. It's also poorly constructed. I've had 2 and with both I had a problem with the zoom freezing up. Seemed to be a matter of a screw loosening and jamming things up. If shooting on land, I would consider the Canon 15-85mm or the Sigma 17-70mm.

Does it worth To pay 100$ more to get this instead of the 18-55 kit lens? Thanks!

I do a lot of wildlife photography and the wide angle component of the lens allows you to shoot clearer images from a bit farther away with the 17-85. I love the F/4-5.6 for shooting subjects which may or are moving.
