Briggs & Stratton 691993 4-quart Plastic Fuel Tank and Cap for Remote Mounting

This bolted right on in a few minutes. Exact replacement, bolt holes line up, the tab that hooks over the "shelf" that is on the side of the engine lined up perfectly, not a single issue, other than the high price for a piece of molded plastic. I inherited an old Lincoln Electric welder that needed a slew of parts to get running again. One thing it needed was a new fuel tank, as the old one had cracks all through it after sitting for 25+ years. This tank fit perfectly, and got my welder running again. This same tank will fit on my Troy Bilt tiller as well, which needs a tank as well for the same reason, and I will end up ordering this one.

This is a much sturdier tank than the $50 cheap ones on here. I bought one of those and it leak at the seam out of the box. Those are very flimsy and poor quality. This OEM tank is the way to go.

This tank is what B&S supplies these days but is a bit smaller than some older tanks. like that from my 20 year old 18hp-twin DR chipper. As you can see from pics A and B it's smaller in all dimensions. The older tank measures 10.75" wide including the flanges joining the top and bottom.The problem then with installation (C) is that the original top bracket is too tall for there new tank. I wound up making a new bracket out of sheet metal. (The camera angle makes it looks like the attachment holes don't line up, but they do.) I suppose I could have removed the mounting plate (D) and redrilled the holes to move the support bracket up instead. Maybe I'll do that this winter.About the only other issue (other than the price!) is that the new tank has about 30% less capacity, so I find myself running out of gas occasionally.

This tank has Briggs & Stratton made in U S A embossed on it. The installation holes matched up perfectly for zero issues - quick and easy.No leakage.Use OEM only for this part, worth the money. I know it’s expensive, but I need my Troy built tiller.

The plastic-gas tank [cracked-across the bottom during storage] on my 13 yr old CHIPPER [made by TECUMSEH who is no longer in business] so I bought this BRIGGS&STRATTON tank as a replacement[also a fuel-filter & fuel line] from AMAZON at a reasonable price....the B&S tank is not a direct replacement [but is high quality has a shut-off valve and should last for years]..I had to modify my existing tank mounting bracket[drilled a new mounting hole/grind off one edge due to the different tank dimensions/spray-paint reworked areas]changed [4] mounting bolts..and everything went together fine!!..All modifications were 'minor' and took a couple of extra hours to accomplish..My chipper is ready to go back to work later this month to clean-up lots of brush and tree-trimmings on our rancho in the high dessert of Arizona!!...Another repair accomplished with quality parts available from Amazon !!

Replacement for my existing one on my DR Classic Field and Brush Mower that is 27 years old! Worked great.

Sturdy, easy to install, but expensive.

Replaced leaking gas tank for an 8 HP motor that was a Briggs and Stratton tank. Mounting holes and tank was a perfect replacement in every dimension. Totally happy!

The fitmit was awesome it was better than the original this has a better gas cap.

tank fit perfectly. Way expensive, but better than throwing the chipper out
