The key word is “resistant”. I thought this was going to be sturdier. We have a bear proof trash can we purchased from ACE hardware that is tough and hard. Bears can’t get in it. I thought this can would be the same durability. Two days after putting bird seed in it the bears had knocked it over and punctured it around the lid. The screwing top was a great idea but not thick enough. It’s been 10 days since we received our can. Last night the momma bear lifted it with 40lb of seed in it and tossed it off our deck. It landed 15ft below and rolled down the forest hillside. It’s nowhere to be found. I’d get another trash can but they are too deep for me to use. Wasted money on this one.

The bears love these cans. This is the fourth one I have bought and they all end up like this after only one night sometimes.

💯 worth every penny. This can was full when a bear tried to get into it. I can’t even imagine the mess I would be cleaning up this morning if it wasn’t for this trash can.

Not squirrel proof; chewed through the plastic top within a week- needs to be metal. Not even close to being worth 279 bucks- total ripoff.

Don’t waste your money. I actually bought this at Ace Hardware. The first one I had was destroyed by a bear the first night I used it. Ace replaced it for me and the second was also destroyed the first night I used it. I contacted Bearicuda directly to see if they’d stand behind their product but all they said was “we claim it’s bear resistant, not bear proof”. Well it’s not even bear resistant. For $279 it should at least work a little. What a waste of money and such a rip off! Don’t be fooled by this piece of junk product! They should be ashamed of themselves. From all the destroyed cans I’m seeing in the reviews, I’m seeing a class action lawsuit coming soon since they won’t back their product. You can’t make claims of being bear resistant then turn your back on all the customers who spent $279 on something that doesn’t work as described by the manufacturer. Do the right thing Bearicuda and refund all your unhappy customers!

This is extremely sturdy and durable. Lid screws on great. Only problem... not bear proof. At least for Vermont Green Mountain black bears. Bear rolled it up hill then managed to get in, destroying lid. See pics.
