Water Based Goon Grease

Having used pomades for the best part of 2 decades, I have to say the water based Goon Grease is THE best I’ve ever used. Ease of application and texture of pomade - 5* Scent (cucumber citrus) - 5* Hold - 3.5-4 out of 5, which is good for my hairstyle Shine - 4-4.5* when applied on damp hair Cost - 5* Product ingredients and quality - 5* Washed out easy peasy. This is by far my favorite hair product! I’ve used other Lockhart products and pomades from other companies, and this one works best for me. The scent is masculine, like cologne. It is very workable, and holds pretty well all day. I love how if my hair gets messed up, I can easily restyle it without adding more product. Some might find this to be a negative, but I’ve found it does not wash out in one wash. It is water based, but after one wash, my hair is still tacky. I think this is due to the beeswax content. That being said, I like how it doesn’t totally wash out because it leaves a nice fond for the next application, which means I don’t need to use as much product as I would if it totally washed out.

Works well, shiny, but not that much hold for curly hair. Smell is completely cucumber rather than a cucumber scented product, but doesn’t smell bad and the smell fades after application.

Awesome product I love the original goon grease but I don’t wear product everyday which I get if you wear everyday I would get the original. This is better if you need to wash out. I have thick frizzy hair and this tames my hair and I can make it slick and it doesn’t flake up. Total worth the money and if you struggle with hair like mine I’d give it a try. The original goon grease takes like 3 days of washing to get it out but this is washable in one wash.

Thought I would give the water based version a try. I usually use the oil based and sometimes need to de-grease. My hair style is a pomadour , so I need some hold. This water based Goon Grease holds for a couple hours and than I need to add hair spray to keep it out of my face. Sturdiness, not all day long. It does wash easily compared to what I usually use. I know some say it is sticky but once you warm it up in your hands it isn't too hard to handle. I do worry weather it is good for my hair health, because by the end of the day I find my hair dried out. If you think you can use this like the oil based Goon Grease...not going to happen. I am sure it is great for soome hair styles, just not mine.

My hair: Thick straight hair. People say I have Asian like hair. Goal: To slick to the side/back just with hands and have a natural wet messy look to it. Have natural move. I didn’t want a gel stuff look. I didn’t want greasy look either. Goal Achieved: The product is nice and consistent. One finger amount goes a long way with damped hair. No flakes. Fair volume and wet look throughout the day. I can pass may hands/fingers thoroughly and not have anything on my hand. SMELL: not strong, but it’s alright. I’d like more scent. One full point off because of that. STRENGTH: I’d say 7/10 for sure. Maybe just a bit more shine to it, just a tad bit more. But as it is I really like it. For a natural messy look. THIS IS IT. I am happy with the product. Earned a Loyal customer. Ps. I’ve always had short hair, thanks to this product I will try long hair styles now because I trust this product will do exactly what I want. And yes it need more scent lol that’s it. I don’t want a strong hold, this is like medium hold. Medium shine.

Sleek look, firm hold, non greasy water based pomade. Smells great. A little goes a long way. Easily washes out and leaves my hair feeling conditioned. I'll likely be a lifelong customer.

I wanted to like this product but it does not hold what so ever. I have had it for 2 weeks and I have followed all the special instructions for the hold. It has a nice scent and applies very easy however it takes longer to dry and if I sweat the hold releases. I’ve used their paradox and that stuff is 🔥🔥🔥. But goon grease is not very good. I’m going to stick to suavecito firme, laterite super and Viking revolution extra strong.

Kind of works for a little bit, but not much hold or shine for longer hair. Found the bulldog pomade had more hold at a fraction of the cost
