Bought this after borrowing a friends. Kid was unable to do parts of a mountain bike trail, and when I tried this, we did most of it no problem!! The hard part is making sure you pull in the right spots, if you pull too hard around a corner, it will stretch and then de-compress and yank the kid around the corner, too.My friend only used it on straight stretches, but on a trail, it's too hard to stop and take it off, etc., so I just winged it.Enough stretch that it doesn't pull you back. I'm not sure this would be easily achievable as a DIY project, as this is really high quality bungee, so it's worth the price.

I love this simple tow strap for my 7 year old. I’d seen it a few times used by others in the mtb trails but was still skeptical; after multiple outings I’m sold. It has allowed us to ride together in some areas with significant extended climbs without him burning out or getting overly frustrated. He quickly learned to handle tight switchbacks by following me closely into them, then letting the tow rope assist in getting him up and around the turn. Let’s be honest, it’s basically a bungee cord sewn inside a piece of webbing, but it is solidly constructed and quick to take on and off our bikes, particularly if you use another small piece of webbing and a carabiner. I was worried about “slingshotting” my little guy if he started to lag but admittedly this provides even and consistent-feeling tension. When he pedals as well (which he does, because I’m not giving away free rides!) the extra tension is noticeable but not at all excessive.All in all I’m completely satisfied and very happy I gave this a try!

I have an 11-year-old son who thinks he's too cool for the TowWhee, but I'd imagine on some steep climbs this summer it's going to come in super handy. However, my 6-year-old daughter and I have been crushing the climbs with the TowWhee, allowing us to ride a few trails already this year that I wouldn't have been able to without it. The TowWhee really opens up the possibilities of what you and your kids can ride TOGETHER as a family...plus someday soon I might need it so they can pull me up the hills! Thanks TowWhee for making a great product to keep us riding!

Easy to mount quickly and tows my 8 year old up the hills. Even on switch back single track it works. If you love to MT bike and are trying to ride more this is a great way to help get your kids up the hill. Less complaining= more fun= more Mt. Biking.Buy the extra Quick loop to speed up your hook ups!The only place this product does not work well are trails that go up and down a lot. If the trail goes up then rolls over and goes down you will sling shot your kid and they have to learn to break as they start to go down the hill and you have to learn to break as you feel your kid reach the top of the hill. If not zing they get rocketed into you.Great product. I have a few friends that have bought these now after seeing it in use.

I thought the TowWhee was wishful thinking, but it really does let us go on longer family rides. It was a great step up from the trail a bike. Our 9 year old still has to pedal, but she is no longer getting frustrated by being left behind by her older brother, and pulling her slows my husband down enough that I can almost keep up too ;) She especially likes that she can have help up the hills, but still ride the descents independently.

Great for quiet one way trails. Not recommended for busy areas with oncoming cyclist.

I really like being able to take my daughter on longer rides with me. I recommend getting a clip so that it can be more easily removed and reattached.

It's awesome. I actually used this for pulling my son on his scooter. Works really well. We used it at the strand by the beach where hills can be a pain. He had a blast!
