Welcome to Your Sharp and Quality Pair of Scissors
These scissors look and feels like professional scissors. Even though people over use the words "cuts like butter", these 8" scissors are very sharp and cuts through thick material very easily. I had to cut through a stack of two pieces of cotton material and two pieces of batting together and it cut through them with ease. If you ever need to use the scissors outside of your home, it comes with its own hard cover sheath to store the scissors so you don't accidentally cut yourself when reaching for it. One end of the scissors is tapered, which makes snipping ends of extra material away very easy.Don't forget to lightly grease the scissors if you are not going to use it for an extended period of time. This will keep the scissors from forming rust, and always store it in its sheath after use as this will also help to prevent rust, especially if you live in a humid environment.Like I said earlier, these are a large pair of scissors, 8", made to cut through lots of material. Even though it is pricey, you wont be disappointed with this purchase. It is easy to carry with you if you sew while on vacation or just on the go. Because it is a sharp pair of scissors, always store it in its protective sheath. If you take care of these scissors, they will always be there when you need it. Oh, every now and then, tighten the screw and nut because it will eventually work itself loose.Happy Cutting! Happy Sewing!

Tickled they finally arrived
So tickled they finally arrived! I had broken my sewing scissors the day I ordered these. So frustrated, sooo frustrated and right in the middle of a project. It has taken a few days longer than expected, but at long last they have arrived. Best investment in sewing equipment to date. Easy on the hands, sharp (take note), all mental construction, and well deserved reputation.

Well made, strong.
I love these fabric scissors. They are beasts, monsters, cut through thick fabric, clean cuts. It made bulk work so much easier. Worth every penny.

Excellent, but not the best fabric shears on the market
I compared the following fabric shears, listed in order of how well I liked them:1. The Kai 7250: 10 inch Professional Shears N7250 (7250) - Professional Shears2. The Gingher 10 Inch Knife Edge Bent Trimmers (Note: I list these here because I prefer this length, but I only tested the 8" and 12" models below.)3. The Kai 7300: 12 inch Professional Shears N7300 (7300) - Professional Shears4. The Gingher Knife Edge Bent Trimmers 125. The Gingher G-8T KE Tailors Shears, 8-Inch6. The Gingher G-8 8-Inch Knife-Edge Dressmaker's Shears7. The "Kai 110: 11 inch Tailoring Shears S-110 (S-110) - Professional Shears"8. The "Kai 7240-AS: 10 inch Serrated Edge Shears N7240-AS (7240-AS) - Professional Shears"I bought all the Ginghers on Amazon, and all the Kais from their web site (Amazon doesn't sell them). I evaluated them by cutting eight 4" long layered sheets of lightweight cotton fabric at once. My criteria were:- smoothness of cutting- was the edge straight, or did it wave?- comfort of scissors (hand position, weight, tightness of grip)- how often did I have to open the scissors to cut the 4" fabric? With all 8" shears I had to open them too often, resulting in more effort needed to get a straight cut. With all 12" shears I had to open them too wide, which was difficult even with my very large (size 10+) hands. I thus settled on a 10" pair. The Ginghers are all excellent -- better than any of those colored-handle shears I've tried. They are rumored to last 25 years, and they're not that expensive ($25). Of those, the tailoring shears were ever-so-slightly smoother than the dressmaker shears. Not sure why.But the Kai 7000 series were simply better. They're smoother, lighter-weight, sharper, nicer engineering, and they offer a $14 sharpening service. Wow. Them's be some sharp scissors. Holy cow. Did the "let's gently run my thumb perpedicular to this blade" test and a minute later realized I was bleeding... Didn't even feel it. Must also say the customer service was top-notch. They sent me the 3 pair I wanted to test in advance, and didn't charge my card till I picked the one I liked best.Yes, they're $70. But Gingher's 10" pair are $50, too. If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, I'd get the "Gingher G-8T KE Tailors Shears, 8-Inch" ($25). If you're looking for the best fabric shears period, I'd get the Kai 7000 series (the 10" ones for me).Update (01/09/2013): A fellow reviewer pointed out to me that Amazon now carries some of the Kai shears. I have added links above to those they carry at this time. And I still recommend looking at the manufacturer's web site. They offered me super service -- really above and beyond.

Just What I Wanted
I have been looking at options for a good pair of multi purpose scissors for a while. I take huge issue with societies decline into disposable products. Even speciality stores have no options for things like quality scissors. Plastic unrepairable junk is marketed as โheavy duty.โ I am very impressed by these scissors and I hope theyโll last many years. They feel comfortable in my hands. The design is great. The weight and size is great. I specifically wanted stainless steel, a screw (not a rivet), and for each handle to be solid metal (no welds/rivets/plastic). I bought these for everyday tasks like cutting paper, string, crafts, and especially for cutting wrapping paper cleanly. They cut very nicely with what iโve cut so far and i have high hopes. Iโve already been spreading the word about these scissors to my friends and family. Thanks for selling a quality product. I would include pics but Amazon insists on having access to your entire photo album to do so.

Great Scissors
Incredible scissors! Spouse misplaced her original scissors that she had for 40 years and was very upset. Found these at a good price on Amazon and made her happy once again. They are slightly larger than her original scissors and are extremely sharp. Weight is noticeable but not too heavy and they are super easy to cut with and are very accurate. the finger holes are stainless, so they can be a bit slippery with very dry hands.

Brilliant
Outstanding quality scissors, although I am not using these for dressmaking, I bought them to trim back some curtains after installing thicker pile carpet. Cutting was so smooth and the angle of the scissors made it so easy to get a straight line.
