Great looking and works great!
Just love this. It looks so nice and slick, and the motion sensor and the voice command works amazingly well. Saw some reviews saying the lid does not close/seal. I disagree. I have owned at least there other brands of this motion thingy trash cans, and all of them close the same way and I never had a problem with smells coming out while the lid is closed. Anyway, if your trash is stinking the place with the lid closed, it really just means you should take the trash out. Keeping the smel perfectly "sealed" inside the can is more like ignoring the problem rather than solving it and it is not the can's fault. Also, if you don't take it out once it starts stinking up, your problems will be a lot worse than just the bad smell, I am talking about gross ass liquid and magots 🤮

Great looking touchless trash/recycle bin
This classy brown can allows for touch free operation. It also will open using the command “open can”. Two bins allow separation of recyclables from trash. Included bags precisely fit the trash portion. The brown selection I made matches my cabinets and is less obtrusive at the end of my counter. The only odd thing is since mine is near the TV, it opens on some unrelated conversations from the TV. However customer service suggested I put a piece of adhesive tape over the small microphone hole which seems to have muted ambient noise without impairing it’s recognition of my command. Sensitive motion sensor opens top for touchless garbage placement. Quite pricy but worth it for its features.

Looks nice, works like garbage
Major complaints:1. Not meant to be used on batteries. It takes 6 AA batteries, which we end up needing to change almost weekly. In an attempt to be more environmental as well as economical, we purchased rechargeable batteries and now I feel like I'm in a constant cycle of charge-and-swap. Not to mention the battery housing is extremely frustrating to pry the dead batteries out of. The can does have the option to plug directly into an outlet, which it does perform much better on, but I doubt most people intend to position their very attractive garbage can within cord-dangling distance from an outlet.2. Motion sensor works ~60% of the time. And the other 40% is very frustrating, since you have garbage or recycling in hand and you then need to pry the flush-mount lid open with a hopefully free hand. The motion sensor does seem to work best on fully charged batteries or when plugged into the wall.3. Voice control is laughable; no way to disable. When the voice control works, it's rarely triggered by the intended commands. Pretty much any audible conversation will have your garbage can opening and closing on its own. Sure it can be funny when guests are over - how laughably deficient the feature is - but ultimately just another point of frustration. While there is no way to disable this feature, not to worry, as long as you use batteries to power it does eventually stop working with time. While I am very aware of my "first-world-problems" complaining that my $250 garbage can doesn't work well, it is very disappointing to have purchased something with such high hopes only for it to become a daily frustration. I can honestly say that I would not recommend this product.

Excellent product and customer service
The product is exactly as advertised! Trash can opens seamlessly and consistently by voice or hand motion. At first, I was disappointed because the initial one I received was damaged with a big dent on the side. I notified Amazon that the product was damaged and needed to be replaced. I was expecting to receive a new one in about a week or so only to my surprise, it arrived three days later. I really want to applaud everyone for the great customer service.

I Didn’t Know I Could Loathe a Trashcan
Seriously, this takes something like throwing trash away, that we take for granted as effortless, and makes it annoying and complicated. 3 years in, on my second one (Simplehuman did replace the first when it stopped working in less than a year), and having the same issue - lid won’t open or half opens or opens and slams shut or some other version of what it’s NOT supposed to do. It probably opens normally once every 10th try, so it’s always a guess as to what it’s going to do. For reference, it’s always plugged in, not using batteries which from my parents’ experience seems to make the can even LESS reliable. Oh, and you buy specialty bags for the pleasure of this experience. It looks pretty, but I really truly hate this trash can. I’ll get a pedal version next time. Probably not by simplehuman.

Sold me on Simple Human
I purchased this on a whim at a time that I probably shouldn't have done so. I switched out all my cans to Simple Human after this. Worth the money. It's a beautiful addition to my kitchen, and it's not even the color I originally wanted. However, I was really disappointed that, like many others, mine arrived with a large dent. A good chunk of my Amazon orders arrive damaged - so I was mentally prepared. I decided to live with the dent as I was in the middle of a move and did not have the energy to contact their Customer Support after reading many not-so-great reviews on attempting to get dented or broken products taken care of through them.Yes, it does hauntingly open on its own sometimes. Yes, I do have to speak very plainly and request its service more than once sometimes. It's a voice activated electronic - we've only come so far. To be fair, it listens to me more consistently than Google, Siri, or Cortana ever has in the past.

I LOVE this trash can
I am obsessed with this trash can. It is sleek and delivers on everything as presented. It has two compartments; one for trash and the other for recyclables. It opens on command every time, closes after a reasonable amount of time, and can stay open for an extended period with an additional command. The motion sensor works great when desired and does not activate in error simply by walking past it. It works on battery power or with an included power adapter. It is elegantly styled, perfectly engineered, and makes throwing away trash an enjoyable experience... as crazy as that might sound.

Very good but not perfect
Pros: really neat, the flap that conceals the liner is excellent, the build quality is good, the motion sensor is really good. And the lack of any pedal etc makes the outer very sleek. I even like the liner pocket which I was ready to hate.Cons: the voice activation is very hit and miss.. 50% of the time you just end up looking like a loonatic holding some rubbish shouting "open can" at a bin.The price.. I didn't pay full price but if I had shelled out 250 quid I would probably have a hard time convincing myself that this was a good purchase.. But not be quite disappointed enough to send it back
