It is a sturdy grinder. Easy to carry around. Works great. The grind quality is satisfactory. It does not take a long time to grind a full grind chamber at setting 3. One photo on the item description page states that it has a 40 gram capacity for 2 cups. The grinding chamber has only a 20 gram capacity. The jar that the ground coffee goes into has a 40 gram capacity. I ground 10 grams of beans and it was enough to make a good cup of coffee. The coffee grinder looks good. I have the gold one. The catch jar is easy to remove and put back on. The handle is long enough to give good leverage to grind and is not too long to be unwieldy. There is a nice carrying bag included. There is a notecard that states if you want to dissasemble the grinder to clean thoroughly or to add some disks to make the espresso grind even more fine that you should contact the company for a dissasembly manual. It provides an email address to contact them and a website address. The website does not have the dissasmbly manual available, it just has the manual that was in the box. I contacted the company using the email address provided to request the dissasembly manual but still have not heard back from them. I probably won't hear from them.

Update, 06/29/2020: My only nitpick with this otherwise excellent grinder was the lack of replacement receptacles. Lo and behold, the supplier now has multi-packs of replacement receptacles at a very good price. They ship with reusable screw-on plastic caps which makes them ideal for other uses - storage of peppercorns, herbs, spices, etc. The receptacle is dishwasher safe. Although I don't necessarily recommend doing so, the plastic caps seem to be too. No issues when doing this even on the lower rack in the utensil basket. Great, high value grinder backed by a very responsive, customer service oriented manufacturer/supplier. Happy customer.. Original review: After disassembling it to take a look, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The steel burr is sharp and the tolerances of the assembly confidence inspiring. The adjustment ring didn't have a particularly smooth action at first but gently and firmly cycling it back and forth a few times resulted in a smoother action. After thoroughly inspecting it while disassembled, I put it back together and gave it a try. At it's finest setting which is 1, I got a very consistent and finely ground result. Increasing the setting up the range resulted in a consistently coarser grind. Nice. The crank mechanism is smooth, doesn't 'wiggle' and has plenty of leverage making grinding very easy. Only once did the beans stop feeding but a simple shake took care of it. A couple things to expect: The crank isn't locked in place. This is by design. To fill the chamber with coffee beans, you lift off the crank. When reaching for this on a counter top for example, always pick it up by the body, not the crank. Given that this has a glass receptacle, this makes handling especially important. As far as I can tell, the supplier does not yet sell replacement jars/receptacles. If and when they do, I hope they offer a larger size as an option to the original size. In spite of a potentially fragile glass receptacle, I like it. It's easy to see when to stop grinding and the receptacle is dishwasher safe. Probably stating the obvious, the grinder is not dishwasher safe. Fine grinds require more grinding. Grinding at setting 1 will take significantly longer than at 6. At setting 1 it can seem as if the beans aren't feeding but they are. At this setting, you'll wind up with a powdery result. Higher settings will result in faster grinds. 3 seems to be the sweet spot for pour over but this is a personal preference. With 6 grind types, there's probably a favorite for everyone. Pros: Very high value for a grinder with a good quality *steel* burr. Comparable grinders with steel burrs are at least 30-40% more. Some far more. Most burr grinders at this price point and below have ceramic burrs that can chip, break and are less precise. Grinders with steel burrs are sharper and likely to last indefinitely. I can't imagine it gets much better than this without going to a motorized burr grinder. Aside from cost, the downside of a motorized burr grinder is that it will disconnect you from the experience of grinding your own beans. I find that grinding my own seems to enhance my enjoyment of coffee. Cons: Nothing significant. If I had to find one thing I did not like, it would be the lack of replacement receptacles. If the one that ships with this breaks, you'll have to improvise. Great price, design and quality. Happy customer and definitely recommended.

I've used this grinder almost every day for over 2 months. So far, so good. The grind seems very uniform. My expressos are smooth with no bitterness. The mill grinds with a nice tactile crunch I find strangely satisfying. The only drawback (hence the 4 stars) is no instruction on how and when to clean. It is not hard to figure out and monthly cleanings seem to work ok, but some reassurance from the manufacturer would be nice. Update: found cleaning instructions at end of product description here, but they are not very clear. They seem to discourage thorough cleaning, saying coffee grease residue is good for the stainless. Maybe so, but when the grease goes rancid it’s not so good for the taste of the coffee. So I’m still pulling it apart monthly and washing with soap and water. Just be sure to dry it afterwards. The instructions say water is bad for the stainless.

I did not expect that using a simple hand held coffee grinder would produce as much happiness as it has. I feel like a little kid playing with a new toy. Pure joy. First, the design is stunning. It is well made, aesthetically pleasing, and the crank handle rotates smoothly. The coffee grounds come out a consistent size. I’ve been using it for fine ground espresso. Excellent. Highly recommend.

Update 8/29/20: It makes for a decent siphon cup. Unfortunately, when using denser deans, you do get a "you get what you pay for" effect, leaving the grind size all over the place and resulting in lots of fines when using a coarse setting. If you want better performance, though, you'll pay more than double what you did for this one, so the 5/5 review still stands. Just know your first batch with new beans may not go according to plan. Update 8/13/20: I'm so happy with the moka pot this makes that I have no reason to upgrade my grinder in the near future. I may update this as my try aeropress and pourover. Original: Firstly, this won't get you boutique results, but anything below this price point will yield an awful, uneven grind for French press and such, yielding a bitter brew. This is a great, sleek, easy-to-use "git 'er done" grinder, and I wouldn't get anything less. I was impressed with how quickly this grinds, only having dealt with sub-fifty-dollar grinders before. The axle is very stable for the price point, and the design allows for very easy bean pouring without having beans bounce back out. Yes, the adjustment ring is fairly easy to change during grinding...but you adjust your grip accordingly and you're set. It's not a big deal for me, since the materials used were pretty great. Also, as a not-very-serious brewer, I was happy that there were only six coarseness settings with a handy guide. I'll likely only use one or two of these settings, given its intended purpose for pour-overs and French press. I tried out the second-coarsest setting for my French Press today. The grind was, again, reasonably consistent, especially given the price. There was a *very little bit* of fine powder (hardly noticeable), and a few coarser-than-normal pieces, but it's worlds apart from anything under this price. My coffee wound up tasting much smoother than with cheaper burr grinders, which is really all I was after. I usually go with cheaper coffees anyways. 5/5 I'm completely satisfied. If you're looking for the professional barista experience, no matter how you dice it, you'll wind up paying professional barista prices. This is a great design for anything less serious.

I like that you can make grind adjustments and that this is easy to use. There's a noticeable taste when grinding your own beans vs using the ones from the store. And of course with it's portable size, it's perfect to take with you.

I thoroughly enjoy my coffee more so than when I bought pre-ground. I can set it to the correct setting for my espresso machine and it tastes better than buying it pre-ground. Plus, it tastes fresher, since coffee beans, once ground, will dry out faster than as a whole bean, regardless of the storage container. You can fill up the upper section twice before filling the glass jar it comes with. I would NOT recommend grinding over a larger container, it will make a mess. I also would NOT recommend using a drill / driver to drive the grinder, as it is not only NOT made for that, but it also is not any faster if you do that. It doesn't pull the beans in. If you don't want to put in the manual effort to grind beans, it would be no surprise that kind of person would not enjoy this grinder. But I find it easy to use, transport, and it does a good job. The walnut handle is a nice touch. The only complaint I could make is that my hand slips off every once in a while, or my other hand rotates the grind size.

Far nicer than antiicipated. The six grind levels are very reasonable for what this grinder is made to do, and the resulting grinds have been very consistent. It is simple to use, with a normal level of grind effort and speed. The finish of the product looks fantastic, I do hope it is as durable as it is handsome. Sweet storage bag, too.

Great design - the hand held knob curvature is detailed well not only for aesthetics, but ergonomics. It is easy to grind and maintain. Love it.

Well made grinder, feels solid to hold and great for grinding enough coffee for a cup or two in the morning.

I usually don't write reviews but I am so pleased! I had been searching online for a good coffee grinder until my eyes felt numb and finally settled on this one because, with this price, the risk wasn't too high. It works great and I am able to get the fine grind I want. Previously, I had a frustrating experience with an electric grinder that was expensive - barely worked, hard to use, cleaning it was very involved, only worked in 20 second increments so took a while to grind the beans, was clunky and messy. This grinder is small/easy to store, not messy, easy to use. It is manual so does take time and effort but to me its worth it. I am a cup a day coffee drinker so I don't mind. I just wanted something reliable!

Honestly love this little grinder. When filled with beans, after grinding it is the perfect amount to fit into my breville capuchino portafilter for one cup. Coarse to fine grind is great, and it feels incredibly satisfying when grinding. Very happy so far!
