Hard to say if this thing ever worked.
I had some squirrels playing in the attic. So I plugged one in with an extension cord and placed it on the shelf of the living room, fairly closed to the ceiling. The squirrels still came back but this time in the attic of the kitchen roof next door, about 10 feet away. So I quickly re-positioned it on the shelf of the kitchen cabinet. They continued playing there without being bothered by the device at the time. I left the device there regardless, and the squirrels came by for a few more brief visits in the next few days. After a week, they are now gone. Can't say for sure if the its the BugzOff doing the trick or the squirrels got bored with my attic. Or perhaps, the ultrasonic noise did deterred them from building a nest in my attic. Hard to say if this thing ever worked. The air filter its a very tiny fan, I didn't even buy it for that function. It probably can't even filter air faster than I breathe. The button for the lights its a gimmick and annoying. Every time you re-plug it in an outlet, you have to wait and press the button three times to turn on all three lights of frequency. Just stupid that the product designed to make you do it manually instead of automatically on its own.The night light its the only plus that reminds me that I still have the BugzOff at work.

but not like there was before
We were having troubles with rats coming in the house. I just knew that they would keep coming in from outside if we only used a rat trap. I couldn't stand the noise of it snapping and knowing it had killed one. We plugged this in and have not had another rat. Obviously, if it isn't happening one has to wonder if it is coincidence or not. After reading all the reviews, which is why I decided to purchase this, and trying it for myself with the same results, I have to say that it must be working. We also had a huge problem for a while with flies in the house. Since we got this, there have still been one or two, but not like there was before. I would definitely purchase this again.UPDATE!!! Well, it appears the rat has been back. I saw droppings in my pantry. I know that sometimes this seems to turn off so maybe why, but I think it just doesn't work well. Same with flies. I have seen a few, but not as many as last year. Unsure if it is this device or a change in the flies.

Beware - Doesn't work
Firstly I must say that I do not write product reviews. The only reason I am writing now is that I feel ripped off especially since 39.99 is a lot of money even for a unit like this, that works. I have now used it for 12 days and I do not see a difference in mice problem for which I got it. I know that the unit is powered on because of the light. Other than that you cannot tell. Three days into the install mice nibbled into food left about 20 ft (line of sight) from this unit. I continue to hear mice in the attic every day, right above (8-9 ft) where this unit is plugged in. Last time I had them exterminated but they came back so I thought this would be a more humane way of keeping them at bay.It is possible that I got a defective unit since so many people have written positive reviews. Either way, whether this unit is defective or a working unit that doesn't perform as marketed, I am going to call Amazon customer service for a refund.

It really worked for me.
I must admit, I was very skeptical about his item. I'm not one of those who got this for free or a discount. I spent $40 bucks on this thing. I don't normally have any bugs, rodents or any pests in my condo. We never leave food out overnight and even when we do there were never any problems. One day I saw a roach crawling in my kitchen drawer. I immediately killed it thinking it was a one time occurrence. Soon another popped up, then another, I was mortified. I have a very small dog in my home and I was very concerned with putting out any pesticides and chemicals. Furthermore the areas in the kitchen where utensils are used I was not prepared to cross contaminate with things like Borax and baits potentially even luring more of the buggers into my home so I purchased one of these in hopes to avoid all that.Got it in the mail a few days later and its true, the instructions are useless I didn't know what the hell I was pressing. I fiddled around with it and was about to give up up and return it but I realized the unit has to do some sort of cycle test mode. All 3 lights eventually came on so I left it there for a test run. My dog did not have any reaction to the noise, she still plays happily and eats normally with no signs of the unit bothering her. I have to admit since putting this unit on months ago, I use the kitchen regularly and have not seen 1 more roach in my home. Apparently this thing really drives them out. I'm not sure how this would work for homes with infestations or well established roaches in their homes but for me as a first response they weren't able to settle down. I have a feeling that people who already have roaches in their homes will need to use more measures and this unit in conjunction as they will need to rid of the existing population first.

sometimes it feels like it's worse than before but maybe it's just the ...
Now it's the 3rd week and I don't see too much of a difference... I bought specifically for cockroaches but it's not effective so far... sometimes it feels like it's worse than before but maybe it's just the level of infestation in the rental building...I will leave it on and I still give it a chance for other insects and try it later for mice/rats/others because I just bought my first home... I just hope I won't need to use it soon... I'll try to keep you posted if it will change for the better...

Probably a good device
Well, I installed it in accordance with the instructions, which was easy to do. In the great room, which has wooden floors and wooden vaulted ceiling. Sound bounces all around in this room. No pests of any kind have been seen since. Now, whether or not that is because of this device, or some other "natural" reason I have no idea. Let's be generous and say this device cleared the room all by itself. Maybe it's even true. The only complaint I have is that the unit takes up an entire two plug outlet, which, in my opinion, is poor engineering. I did discover that if there is a brief power outage, the unit will not turn itself back on when power is restored.
