Olympus PT-056 UW Housing for the Olympus TG-3 and TG-4 (Black)

We used the PT-056 UW housing with a Olympus Tough TG-4 camera for seven days of snorkeling - we were in the water twice and sometimes three times each day. The camera is waterproof, but we wanted the extra protection of the housing.Because we snorkeled near the surface and did not experience the higher water pressures at diving depths, I used the provided silicone grease on the O-ring every other time that I opened the case to replace the battery. Because the dewpoint temperature of the air when I loaded the camera in the housing was below the water temperature, we did not have to worry about condensation forming underwater and I did not use the provided silicone gel packs. No water, either leaks or condensation, entered the housing. Once out of the water, we rinsed the housing in fresh water and let the housing dry before opening it.Air is trapped in the housing and the camera; the assembly floated about a foot below the surface of the salty Caribbean sea. Nonetheless, I girth-hitched the wrist strap to a shoulder/chest strap that I made from 1/2-inch webbing.I am giving four stars because the zoom lever works opposite of what is printed (levering towards W zooms in instead of out; levering towards T zooms out instead of in), which was confusing and took time to get used to.Can't wait to go on more snorkeling trips with this gear!

Very sturdy and durable underwater housing for my TG-4. I have taken this on multiple dive trips, including Belize, Hawaii, and California. This housing has never leaked and the pictures have always come out wonderfully. I have taken it up to a depth of approximately 130 feet (Blue Hole, Belize) and there were no issues. It didn't fog as I had some desiccants in there, but more importantly, there were no leaks. It comes with a handbook as to how to properly take care of the case, so I definitely followed those directions.Make sure to properly care for the housing, including keeping the o-ring clean and greased. I soaked it in fresh water and then rinsed the housing after every time after I used it. Also, make sure to take out the o-ring before you fly or else it might cause the housing to seal shut from the air pressure on the plane.Overall, I am very happy with this product and I do not foresee any issues with it as long as I take care of it properly. Well worth the money and I'm glad I got it for my dive trips!

It's not just a means to take your TG-4 deeper, it's a way to make depths at all shots easier and better. I love the Olympus tough camera on it's own. I love it so much that having a double protection against water damage is important - I'd hate to be without it even for the time it took for the manufacturer to fix/replace it. That's not all this housing does, or even it's most important feature. The visor surrounding the screen mean you can clearly see, regardless of light conditions. The big and easy to maneuver buttons make switching modes quickly (even underwater) fast and simple. (Is there anything worse than spending more time futzing around to get the right shot instead of enjoying and capturing the moment?)Yeah, this housing (and the cameras it's for) get an easy 5 stars from me.

I haven't tested this product in the water, but it seems to work okay. There are a lot of parts and steps, and precautions, but I suppose that is the case with all SCUBA ready equipment. Crossing my fingers I won't have problems with it on the dive!

There aren't many more affordable UW housings out there compared to Olympus. I had my first one for ten years and would have kept it except I upgraded the camera and needed a new housing. My prior housing only flooded once when I didn't install o-ring correctly (on second use). Otherwise it worked flawlessly. it is a good option for the not-so-serious UW photo person.

I have ordered 30 of these for an underwater camera rental program. what better idea than to have an underwater camera inside a water proof case. It seemed foolproof. After less than a month in operation, many of them leak and needed replacement, not due to customer fault. It seems like a new one leaks everyday. I have used many other brands of underwater camera with camera cases, mostly canon, and none have leaked this frequently, even in a rental program. I have to give 1-3 refunds to unsatisified customers every day. Granted it doesn't ruin the camera because it is waterproof as well, but the leaking water fogs up the lens so the pictures are all garbage. If I could start from scratch with a new brand of camera and underwater case, but with 20 rental cameras and cases, I am into it $15k, so it's hard to start over. If Canon made an underwater case for their waterproof line of cameras, I would 100% go with them.

Combination of waterproof TG-4 and a good underwater housing means not only you can take you camera deeper, but your setup will be fail proof.Even the housing leaks you camera is safe. Highly recommend scuba divers to have this setup.Its light weight, won't take much space and take very good photos.

The housing works great. I've done four dives with it so far and have not had any leakage. The lens did not fog and the pictures I took came out very well. The last depth I used it at was 23 meters/75 feet.

Using this housing with a new Tg4 and external strobe connected via fiber optic cable.No leaks and the system works fine. The only difficulty I experience is trying to change settings while underwater and wearing dry gloves. Be sure to make all your settings before diving. this is a really well made under water housing for the tough series olympus cameras. i have the tg-4 and this fits perfectly. you have full control of all the buttons and dials with the case on. It is well made and feels sturdy. It is perfect for scuba diving and can be taken 150 feed deep. I am very happy with this housing.

Extremely well made product at a good price. Now I can take pictures up to recreational dive limits. Looks like I may have to look into some value lighting however for deeper dives. All menus and settings available to you through button system.

Wonderful. The glare sheild makes it easy to see what you are taking a picture of.

Works great and will help extend the life of the camera
