I bought gold!
Not in any kind of decorative booklet, like in the pictures--just 20 sheets of gilding gold between sheets of thin paper in a ziploc baggie. As far as use, I bought mine to do nail art, but these are a bit difficult to shred into pieces small enough to fit on nails. I learned the hard way this can really stick to your fingers, so now I'm using my nail tools for that. Overall, this was the best deal on Amazon for this stuff, and I don't care about the decorative cover, as long as what I bought is inside! Even my little comments about it being hard to handle weren't complaints; just my process of learning. So overall, I got exactly what I needed at the best possible price! Great stuff!

That's actually a good thing, though
This product comes in MUCH smaller sheets than some other gold leaf I have gotten. That's actually a good thing, though, for my current application. The small individually-wrapped sheets make it easy to handle - just fold back a corner of the cover paper and touch the leaf to the surface where you want to leave a spot of gold as an accent or to repair a small fault in a larger gilded surface. Quick to apply and very little waste. I cold get a gold accent on each of at least a dozen small cakes from each sheet.

Not as claimed - Heavy copper content
This product claims to be 24k 999/1000 gold. After dissolving in 0.2M pH 10.0 glycine buffer with 2:1 ratio of potassium cyanide and 0.2M potassium chloride, the resulting solution was a very dark green, indicating a significant presence of copper. 24k gold leaf from other sellers had no such coloration. I also used the Millipore Quant copper test strip which came back strongly positive as well. I have sent a sample out for quantification via ICP-MS and will update this review accordingly.edit: I noticed people are buying this for consumption. I would definitely recommend NOT EATING THIS!edit2: I received the analysis back from FLSmidth analytical services. It should be noted that not all of the material ended up dissolving, even after several days. However, the solution was 42.3ppm gold, and 271ppm copper. Even if the remainder of the undissolved fraction were 100% gold (which it probably isn't), this would still be about 50% copper. It is possible they sent the wrong item, but it was labeled as 24k 999/1000. This is not as advertised, and should not be labeled for consumption. I will file a complaint with Amazon with a note on the safety of this product.

Does not stick easily
I use edible gold sheets for cakes. Usually I can use a clean paint brush to apply the sheets and it’ll stick easily to the brush but this brand did the exact opposite. I even wet the brush to see if that would help and it didn’t. I had to tear the gold sheet and apply and usually I can’t even get the gold sheets on my hand or else they will stick to them and these don’t do that.

Nicely Packaged
The packet of edible gold sheets came enclosed in an attractive 3x4 inch zippered fabric wallet. That really helps protect them and avoids misplacing them in the kitchen, as the stack of foils is pretty small and nearly weightless. I had no experience handling these gossamer foils and transferring them from the paper backing sheets to food, so some basic instructions or tips would have been useful -- there were none, however, hence the 4 stars. If you already know the technique, this would not be an issue. My first few attempts were not entirely successful artistically! The product was delivered by the USPS, signature required. Since we were not home at the time, it took a visit to the main post office to retrieve the package -- a significant hassle for a relatively inexpensive item, but perhaps unavoidable.

Easy to use whole, not easily divided.
The small 4cm square size made gilding chocolate truffles easy. I was hoping to get enough from each sheet for more than one truffle but the nature of the gold leaf made that impossible. The static charge would suck a whole sheet onto the truffle shell and stick it down. Cutting the sheets before peeling the paper back worked to a degree but you risk having the gold leaf sticking to the scissors and getting ruined. One sheet one truffle, so not the best value.

Great price
Love using this on my cakes, and sometimes I need just the right amount. This is that - just the right amount without a huge price tag attached.

Love this foil.
I used the gold foil to add accents on a marbled fondant wedding cake. It is versatile, simple to apply, and stays put. Be careful of strong drafts - the foil is really light and can blow away. Everyone who saw the cake really admired the glints of gold. The foil was delivered really quickly as well.
