Couldn't make a better tent
We do trail work for a living, a lot of wilderness and non-wilderness and it includes a great deal of camping. Usually 150-180 days a year. I like kelty's tents for a number of reasons, but mainly because of longevity/durability. I have owned a large number of tents in the past, and these have by far lasted the longest (generally year 3 is where the regular gunnison zippers run out of steam). We're currently using the outfitter pro 3 after we wore out our second gunnison 4.2 (mainly just to see what it was like). It's on year 2 now, haven't noticed any problem areas anywhere.Tent stays in a dry bag outside of my pack when it's not set up, and loosely in the dry bag for the times when we're at home. I can't recommend these enough for people wanting durability and dependability. No, it's not the lightest. But I have never understood the obsession with ultralight. I also 100% appreciate that it takes them a few years to change designs.

Kelty Outfitter Pro
This tent is pretty awesome. I upgraded to the outfitter recently so we could start doing some more extended stays in the woods and my Kelty Grand Mesa 2 had just about it. I liked the prospect of a similar size tent with tougher construction. We take our dog with us when we go out so the thicker floor was a huge plus. Gotta say, this thing is built like a tank. All the seams are heavy and we'll sealed. The poles are my biggest like in this thing. They really are very sturdy and field repairable. Big zippers function flawlessly and don't stick. Love the dual vestibule. Upgrading from a Grand Mesa, having a door for me and a door for my wife is pretty sweet. Also like the rectangular floor plan. The old tent was tapered and cut down on floor space. The only sacrifice you're going to make with this thing is weight. The weight is noticeably higher than my old Grand Mesa but not a huge deal to me when packed right. Love it.

poor water proofing.
i have been hiking for many years and have used smaller hike tents but my wife purchased the kelty Outfitter Pro 4 for short in and out trips. it was a perfect size for the three of us and our large lab. We used the tent three times and on the third trip Oct 2023 the tent leaked everywhere. After we returned home we noticed that when the tent was dried and ready to be packed away the inside of the rain fly was sticky or tacky to the touch. The silicon used to waterproof the inside of the fly was degraded. As with all our tents they are not stored rolled and packed. They are place into large containers and kept in our camp storage room inside our house so temperature could not have played a part in the product failures. we spent about $350 on the tent and would have expected to get alot more use from it before issues started. I recently purchased a MSR to replace this tent. i have always had good experiences with Kelty products but fear their quality control may be slipping

Excellent tent
I just got back into camping after many years ( about 20 ) of not camping. I did a lot of research before getting this tent. When I got it, I set it up inside the house because I was concerned about it being difficult to set up and I knew that I would be arriving my first night of camping after dark. Setting this up was simple. It is the easiest tent that I have ever put together in my life. The construction and quality is very high end. used it this past weekend and loved it. Many great features. The rain tarp with the hidden guide strings is great. I recommend the buying the matching footprint and gear loft. Went camping last weekend and the tent was perfect.

Great tent, minor improvements needed
Set this up the first time in the yard. Took about 15 minutes in 95+ weather, no wind. What is immediately obvious is that the tent and rain fly are color coded orange and grey. As is the footprint should you buy that separately. The tent goes up without much fuss, simply line the poles up, clip the tent to them and insert them into the tent's premade slots. The footprint made for this tent is a little off size wise. Its straps that insert into the same slot as the tent poles and rain fly are slightly too long. But it's nothing serious, and once you have the stakes in, you dont even notice. (The footprint is sold separately)Another thing you may notice and can see in the first two pictures is that as another reviewer said, there are guy line placements for the sides, but no guy lines or stakes for them, so the sides of the rain fly lay flat against the tent. So, another 2 things to buy separately if you want to set the tent up right are extra stakes and cord for guy lines. As you see in the third picture, the inside appears roomy at first glance. However, as another reviewer mentioned, your head and/or feet will likely come into contact with the sides of the tent due to the slope. At 5'10, my feet were just touching the tent sides while my head was nearly touching the opposite side. Laying in the middle of the tent affords slightly more room than the sides, but eliminates room for a second person. The fourth picture is the vestibule are as taken from the top of the tent looking down. As you may or may not see, the sides of the vestibule are large enough for a pair of boots on either side as well as a small pack. The center of the vestibule, where the zipper is provided slightly more room for baggage if needed. Overall, not an overly large vestibule, but there are two of them, one on either side of the tent, and the rain fly goes to nearly the ground. The fifth picture is of the gear loft (also sold separately) from the floor of the tent. With it in place, there is enough room to sit up comfortably with room to spare (without a cot). You can also see the opened vents in the rainfly in the picture which help with ventilation.Overall a great tent. The poles seem solid enough, the packaging is organized for the poles and stakes to sit securely and without causing damage to the tent if you roll them inside the tent when packing up.Wishes for improvement would definitely be a slightly longer tent to prevent heads and feet brushing the tent as well as guy lines and stakes for the sides of the rainfly. My only compaint would be that there is a lot of things to buy separately at the price point it is at. At the $250 price point, you have to buy a lot of additional gear to get the tent set up right. Guy lines and stakes for the sides, a gear loft and a footprint. Which bring the real cost of the tent over $300 plus taxes.

I'm entirely satisfied with this tent
I'm entirely satisfied with this tent. It has a lot of features that make it very convenient. It's simple to set up and the two doors, interior pockets and ventillation vents are nice touches. One of the reasons I bought it was that it has a well deserved reputation for being sturdy. It rained a few times while I used it and it kept me dry.I used it for camping where I didn't have to backpack it. It's a little on the heavy side for backpacking, but could still be used in that environment.

Solid
The tent goes up in minutes, it's robust, spacious and well-vented. Outstanding for canoe camping or groups of three or more backpackers.

A Design Classic.
The Kelty Outfitter Pro 3 must certainly be the easiest and quickest tent available to pitch, of any size tent... Lay the tent on the ground, overlay the two identical tent poles and attach diagonally in each corner. Attach the tent-body hooks to the poles. Throw over and attach the flysheet - Job done. Secure with the attached guys with the heavy duty tent pegs provided, if required. The Kelty also has an above average generous floor dimension for a 3 person tent, of 6'3" x 7'4". Huge doors for very easy in/out access, without needing to stoop low, for the less agile amongst us, and a generous mesh area is included in the tent body to ensure a moisture free living/sleeping area.Higher than typical material specifications and oversized DAC aluminium poles are used to enable the tent higher than normal levels of use, when compared to other typical American designed tents available. This is a no frills tent designed to do the job as efficiently and capably as is possible. It is spacious, and comes with 2 large doors and vestibules. A generous 3 person tent, that is amongst the easiest and quickest of all to pitch. Impressive and recommended.

Great tent!
I bought the Kelty Outfitter Pro 3 tent from Amazon last week for the unbelievable price of £80. I can now see that the Kelty has gone up in price, but still a great deal! After using it the other day, here are my thoughts....1). Easy set-up, 2). Attractive design, 3). Spacious and well-ventilated, 4). Reasonably lightweight once in pack-ideal for backpacking, and 5). Although it didn't rain, I am certain that this tent will provide optimum protection from the elements as it has bathtub edges and a good fitting rainfly.I highly recommend this tent, and for the £80 price I paid, considering it is a £300 plus tent, I am thrilled and am confident that the Kelty Outfitter Pro 3 will serve me well in the future.

Good tent, could be better
Great tent, massive space, I wish the bottom part was more waterproof for how much the tent weighs
