This Mahuta sneaker from MBT is a walking shoe packed with high-tech functionality. While its upper is a handsome mélange of textures and overlays worthy of fashion sneaker, there's real science in this shoe that can have a magical effect on your body. The thick rubber sole is specially designed to increase the muscle activity required for each step while also ensuring a natural, comfortable and posture-enhancing stride. Plus they look great with jeans, and you’ll look better in those jeans MBT shoes are physiological footwear--the first footwear that has a positive effect on the entire body. MBT stands for "Masai Barefoot Technology." Their innovative design includes a multi-layered, curved sole which makes for a unique and rewarding walking experience. The key to MBT is its patented sole structure. The shank, PU midsole with Pivot and the Masai Sensor create a soft surface that is akin to walking barefoot on springy moss or on a sandy beach. This creates a natural instability underfoot, which activates the supporting muscle system and has positive effects on the entire body. Wearing MBTs significantly improves your gait and posture and relieves pressure on your joints and back. It also exercises a large number of muscles, whether you’re walking or standing. This, in turn, stimulates your metabolism, burns extra calories and speeds up muscle regeneration. In addition, MBTs can have a firming effect on abdominal, leg and buttock muscles. Wearing MBT shoes can also be a therapeutic tool for back, hip, leg and foot problems. At MBT they don't believe in shoes. They believe in footwear that makes you better from the ground up.

Love these shoes! At first...keep reading
Okay, so I readily want to leave feedback for these. I am a nurse and I stay on my feet for 10 out of the 12 hours and I have to say that only after two nights of working, I can honestly say I love these shoes. I know they are men's but they look the best and match my scrubs. At first, they felt like something between being a little buzzed from a drink and walking on sand, but after a couple of hours, I adjusted. In the mornings after I got off, I noticed my legs were not hurting, especially my knees. I have a little more energy in my step than with my previous shoes (Shox, Saucony, and ZigFuel). I don't know if they Amazon will allow me to post another review after a month or so, but if I can, I will and provide a high mileage review.Update:I forgot I purchased these shoses on Amazon and forgot after the month as promised to post, sorry. I was reviewing other things and saw them. I stopped wearing these shoes about 5 months after I purchased them because they began to hurt my ankles. At first they were great but then I started noticing my ankles were hurting after wearing them. I didnt think it was the shoes because they didn't hurt immediately,so I kept on. Then I said, just let me wear something else for a week and see if I still had the problem and then my ankles stopped hurting. Also, the MBT decal came off the shoes which I thought was really weird..almost as if they were fake. I hope I didn't get fake shoes especially since I paid full price at the time of purchase. Looks like they are cheaper now.

Very interesting design
They feel very natural and comfortable once you are used to walking in them, and the knee soreness I used to feel after taking long walks has lessened quite noticeably. I would recommend these as a great walking shoe that feels very comfortable, partly due to the large black foam piece in the heel that you can see in the picture. These shoes are not good for standing, so if you have a job that requires you to be on your feet and stationary for long amounts of time, I would not recommend these. The base of the shoe at the heel is thin and curved, which makes standing still feel very odd.I would also not recommend these shoes in inclement weather as I have found that they make it much harder to keep your balance when snow and ice are on the ground, which I learned courtesy of Nemo.

If the shoe fits.....and it does.
I have exclusively worn MBT shoes for the past 12 years, for business, casual and sports activities. The first models were far from stylish and difficult to find in the USA but the workmanship was very good. Today the quality continues to be as expected and the variety of new styles matches any other high-end brand of shoes. To get the full benefit of the shoes one should learn the proper foot motion and gait. This may take a few days and then it becomes automatic and natural. Individuals with large bunions or excessively wide feet, 2E and wider, should avoid these shoes; they are made to fit a standard medium D. Beware of cheap imitations from other brands, they may cause more harm than good. The shoes are pricey but you get more than you expect in quality, comfort and durability. I was always able to find MBT shoes at considerable discount, especially from Amazon and its subsidiary Zappos.

MBT Is What The Dr. Ordered
These shoes are a God-send for me. I have no padding on the balls of my feet and I am flat-footed. These shoes allow me to walk without putting pressure on the balls of my feet. Prior to wearing MBTs, I could not walk without severe pain. I am now able to walk distances and even occasionally run.I use these shoes to work-out. They are light and very comfortable.I am very surprised and disappointed that MBT has gone out of business. This is perhaps because these shoes take getting used to, and are somewhat awkward initially. I have just bought six pairs because they have gone out of business. These are the only shoes I can wear comfortably. I'm not sure what I will when my shoes wear out.

Was skeptical
My wife bought this type of shoe about a year ago a swears they are the most comfortable shoe she had ever worn. I am trying to lose weight (not easy in your 50) and the doctor told me to add walking 3-4 days a week. I started in my regular NB sneakers and while ok my knees and hips seemed to hurt more. At first I thought it was just the exercise but it didn't get better. I then tried another brand of shoe and they were worse. All this time listening to don't waste your money, buy a pair of MBT so I gave in. Luckly I found a good price on Amazon so I skeptically ordered. GLAD I did. After about a week of breaking them in (getting used to the new muscles you use really) I am now walking a couple of miles a day, no pain, and best of all I feel better and the doctor is happy. With help from eating better and the exercise in 7 weeks I have lost 18 of the 50+ I need to lose. The only negative, they are not the most stylish looking but for comfort and exercise I give them an A+.

Best athletic MBT, one of the best all-rounders.
I've had around a dozen pairs of MBT now of various models over four years. It's all i wear now apart from completely flat flip-flops in summer. The Mahuta is my favourite for work (healthcare) and for athletic pursuits. A bit snug when new but it doesn't take long for the tightness in the mesh to give a little and then they're perfect. It's got the sports rocker bottom too - not scarily high like some MBT's such as Chapa, but not as low as the Jambo which i completely flattened within a year. The Mahuta breathes really well, heel and toe guard strips are well placed to protect against knocks and scrapes. The best MBT shoe for hot weather and easily the best i've found to wear for 12+hours straight if you don't need a solid-top or impermeable leather upper. I'm a big guy, wearing these 5-7 days a week and they are still going strong at the two year mark. And they look great as well!I find the higher models like the Chapa to be cumbersome and clumsy at work, but very good for a long outdoor walk on reasonably level ground. FYI my favourite winter / wet-weather MBT is the Goretex Chakula, similar in style to the Mahuta and far better designed than the old Kimondo with a waterproof upper. I now have three pair of the Mahuta - one new in each of my workplaces and the original pair (still not worn out at 2+years) now used for summer walks, beach, cycling etc.
