Vortex a great company.
Vortex is the only optics company I use. They are an awsome company that stands behind their products and supports you when you have an issue. I love the Viper and Razor lines, but I will say that I went with a Crossfire spotter after running all of the different lines next to each other. The brightness and quality of this is great (as is all of the lines, but the 3x price was just not enough to stay so far up the Vortex foodchain)

Punches above its weight in price!
5 Stars on the quality for the price. To get better quality, one has to spend much more money. No news there, I am sure. For me, as a Western hunter only every few years, this is the maximum I want to spend on a spotting scope. That said, I am extremely pleased with the clarity of the scope on whitetails at about 1300 yards here in Northeast PA. I can easily judge antler size out to a mile, This is an excellent scope for the price and it comes with a great warranty.

Good out to 200 yards
It is a very nice scope if you restrict the zoom to 35X. Some place between 35x and 45x (max) focusing is a challenge.

This spotting scope is amazing! But so is every other Vortex glass item that I have.

Excellent product.
Use it mainly for birding but tried it looking at planets and the comet and was impressive. Clearer than my telescope.

The image is very nice and clear.
Nice resolution and image at about 300 yards looking at signs and etc. When it cools off outside I can take it to the beach and try it out.

focusing ring is poorly designed
Great optics, no question about that, but the focusing ring is too big (it's the circumference of the barrel) and stiff. The result is unacceptable visual shaking while focusing, which makes it difficult to achieve the best focus. My old Bushnell Spacemaster had a tiny, wheel focus on the side of the barrel that allowed for fine-tunig without the slightest wiggle; wish that was the case, here.
