ProTouch Bevel Edge Chisel Set of 6 Plus 2 Chisels FREE

The chisels came in a nice wooden box. The handles have a nice grip. The ends are metal. They appear to be of very good quality. However, on my first time using them a significant chip broke off on the one inch chisel. This happened while chiseling a mortise on a white oak table leg. Also, they are Made in China.

Very well made product. Keeps a good edge and the case is very nice.

Good chisels. You better know how to sharpen chisels. Took a while to tune them up. They came with about a 27 to 28 degree bevel on the edge and I made them all a 25 degree primary bevel with a 30 degree secondary bevel at the cutting edge. Super sharp now but they were not user ready when I got them. All that is pretty standard with chisels at this price point. These should be ok to start with till I feel I want some higher end chisels.I just wish it were made plainer in the description that these were coming from England. Took about 3 weeks to arrive.

Well worth the money and wait to get it from Europe

This complete set is great! I’ve bought a few of these chisels in the past for various jobs and they hold up and stay sharp better than anything I’ve used in the before. When I saw the chance to get the whole set together I had to pull the trigger. Highly recommend!

Ready to use but still needed a bit of horning other wise great set.

When you work out how much you are paying per chisel these are not expensive at all. I would say they are reasonably priced, in the same way as a reasonably priced car on a certain motoring show. I'm not a professional, I'm s fussy DIY'er. so I did need to give the edges some TLC. They are not bad when you get them. I dare say there are those that would use them out of the box. But you can see that they are machine finished with quite accurate edge geometry. How do you sharpen a chisel? there are as many right answers to this as there are experts willing to voice an opinion. And by virtue of that fact they were sharpened exactly correctly. They were just at the point where each crafts-person can make them their own. My way, is by hand on whetstones. Really didn't need much work on the 1000 grit, 6000 took a bit longer, Gave them a micro-bevel and then finished nicely on my strop. A quick with a quick polish on the flat side with the 6000 finished it. Probably 15-20 minutes each to remove those machining marks and to get them to where I want them. If you sharpen yours to a convex curved bevel you are in for a lot of work and maybe some time on the bench grinder. Mine will hopefully never see a bench grinder.They cut the wood with ease, allowing you great control with gentler taps with the mallet. I didn't need the set. I just needed 2 or three of them to replace some of my older ones that have been getting shorter over the years without me really noticing. Now I have them they are there on the tool wall, out of the box and I get that feeling that everything is just right when I look at them. Definitely worth getting the set, at my age they are probably the last ones I'll buy.

These are good strong and very useful. The box is a bonus to keep them all safe from rolling around the tool bag.
