OtterBox Defender Standing Case for the Kindle Fire HD, Green (will only fit 3rd generation)

My husband got me a Kindle Fire for Christmas and i was terrified that my two or three year old would grab it, especially since the two year old gets into EVERYTHING. Sure enough, within a week of getting this and putting my Kindle in it, it was tossed off the bed from a baby in mid meltdown. A day or two after that it was knocked off the computer desk by a cup that got bumped and followed it to the ground, splashing water all over it. Through it all, my Kindle has survived unscathed! The stand is also super helpful when i pull up a recipe to use for dinner. Overall, probably one of my best buys for the past year. Plus it came in lime green (so not easy to lose), how can you not love that?

It definitely protects its, but it is so heavy with the case on it. I took it on vacation to use as a camera and had to take it out of the case to carry it everywhere.

Very nice and durable. Adds some weight overall but worth it for the protection you get. Very easy to install. Not had any issues using headphone jack while in case or power cord.

Fits my daughters new kindle fire HD 7 like a glove! I love that it has a built in screen protector. The hard plastic is great for helping her little fingers hold onto it without dropping it. Ports and buttons are easily accessible too.I love it so much that I ordered one for my phone!

We recently tried this cover, and while it is very sturdy, it is also extremely rigid and hard plastic. It seems heavy, and the cover is not attached to the body of the case. It was also very awkward to install, so it is easy to see how people might think it does not fit the Kindle. We are ordering a leather folio to replace this (after struggling to remove it from the Kindle...).

I really like the quality, but my daughter played with it for about two hours after she received it from Santa and it's all stained up around the edges. It was a real pretty green, but now it's all smudged up with some dark grime that won't come off with any cleaners. Pretty disappointed and will likely never buy another otterbox or recommend them to anyone else. Didn't expect a high-priced, supposedly high-quality tool to be so easily ruined. Super bummed for my little girl, she has blamed herself for ruining her nice gift.

My four year old has the KFHD (2013) so I chose to buy the Otterbox for the full coverage protection. Though the price was painful, it is definitely worth it! I love the bright color options vs. basic black and it cleans up well! My only complaint is that it is difficult to open the inner plastic case when the kindle in inside, the tabs have very little give. Everyone who gave bad reviews because of the ports not lining up obviously ordered the wrong model. Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't make it abundantly clear that there are two different KFHD models. It took a lot of investigation on my part to make sure I was ordering the correct Kindle and matching Otterbox!

The box is good for protecting my Kindle, however the cover for the screen scratches too easily. I would have expected the screen cover to be of a better quality material.
