Product received is not as advertised illustration
Ordered the wire-knitted cylinders (Pic 1), one of which I've used for many years, that has successfully collected a good deal of scale with no problems and can be easily renewed/cleaned by firmly rubbing between the hands under water, and/or by use of an acid descaler liquid.BUT I received the balls instead (Pic 2), which are actually made with a very thin cut strip of sheet material and not a knitted wire, which is not easily visible when viewing the online images. These have not managed to collect any scale deposits at all and are thus useless in comparison, possibly due to being made from a too highly polished material that does not attract scale. So be careful what you order, as you may well be very disappointed.

Catches limescale
I used to have these years ago to catch the limescale in my kettle, these are nowhere near as sturdy but for the price, they do the job ok. I rinse them under the tap from time to time to rid them of limescale and just pop them back in the kettle.

No more mouths full of lime scales
I don’t like tea but I’ve started to drink it more to kick my excessive coffee habit. That is, I only drink a half cup of tea as the bottom half is typically a murky drab filled with lime scale. Woe the one who finishes his or her tea cup in our household! We live in a particularly hard-water area so our water cooker is full of lime scales that are hard to remove. I looked for a solution and came across these affordable mesh balls that apparently prevent from the build up of lime scale. The use can’t be much simpler, you just leave them in your cooker and let them to their job. I don’t exactly know how it works, whether its a chemical reaction or the mesh scraping off the lime while the water cooks, but the lime scale has significantly reduced to a very small amount in two weeks time. We leave it in there all the time.We have a a metal cooker, but it should work in all types of water cookers, plastic included. See my picture for how the mesh wire looks after a few months.
