what should you clean the gel off with before painting?

The main thing is to not let the Gel dry. It can be a little bit of a task removing it if it dries. To remove the Gel, you can rinse and wash with water and a small scrub brush. For the edges, you might need a plastic putty knife/scraper.

I need to remove rust from the interior cargo area of my van. Will this work? Can it be sprayed into nooks & crannies then washed off?

Is this product supposed to be so thick that it won’t even come out of the jug? I just got some and found it to be useless it is so thick

Well, for what it's worth, mine actually turned into that on its own over the course of a few months, so I don't figure it was a bad mix, and it was stored with the cap on tight, and indoors, so no freezing temperatures either. It was a bit on the thick side at first, but it's like chewing gum now and pretty much useless. I'm going to see if there's something that might break it down some (maybe a few drops of the regular type).

very effective!!!

very effective. eats thru rust 10X better than regular evaporust. be careful to not let it get on surfaces that you dont want acid etching performed on. i have a heavily rusted and pitted in some areas 4'x4' piece of 5/8 plate and wanted to use this as a dam around the edge and regular evaporust in the middle. the edge is eat down thru to shiny metal while the rest of the table is still rusted.

Removed the rust on cast iron outdoor furniture well.

Worked well on surface rust on vintage mid century garden tables and chairs. Applied the gel and let it do its work. The product although effective was not really a gel it was too fluid the cling to vertical surfaces. The photos are after rust removal.
