Jesse's Girl Pure Pigment Eye Dust (Flambe)

THIS STUFF IS AWESOME — as long as you know what it is, and what it isn't. It's a loose powder. You get a lot of it in the container, and it is indeed "highly pigmented" as they say. This color in particular (Secret Weapon) has a fabulous duochrome effect, as do several other colors like Kiwi Rose and Peek-a-Boo, and the ones that aren't duochrome have really rich sparkly colors.If you want to wear it as eyeshadow, you need some eyeshadow primer (Jesse's Girl makes one that's okay, ELF makes a good cheap one, and most any brand will work) on your eyelid first, OR you need to mix a tiny bit of the powder with an equal amount of a fixing fluid (Mehron Makeup Mixing Liquid or Duraline Liquid Sealer or, in a pinch, Jesse's Girl's Eyeshadow Transformer, although that one comes as a tiny amount in a frustrating container). If you don't use primer or fixer or anything, the powder is going to come off within an hour or two. If you use primer, you can dry-brush the powder on one area, put another color right next to it, and easily blend the two together in the middle so you get a gradient look. If you use liquid fixer mixed up with the powder, it will go on just like a paint marker—sharp lines, no blending. After you're done blending or painting or otherwise messing with it, it's a good idea to use a setting spray over it to make it really stay put and not come off on your fingers or clothes (I like Mehron's Makeup Barrier Spray best, but most brands have one, including Wet n Wild).Even awesomer, you can blend two or more powders before you apply, for custom shades.Most awesome of all, you are not limited to eyeshadow. You can do any kind of face makeup or body paint you can think of. Or...I used up about half a container of Secret Weapon mixed in Mehron Makeup Mixing Liquid to paint these boring white sandals with a fantasy glow. After painting, I set it with Mehron Makeup Barrier Spray (as I didn't have anything more properly art-supply on hand), and now I can't wait to wear them. My eyes can match my shoes!

This pigment was covered in sticky film on top, like there was a sale sticker on it. I used to work in Rite Aid where they sold these. I assume these are left over from when the company was sold a few years ago. This pigment is at least 3 years old. I do love this brand, or I did when they were in operation. The website for this brand looks fishy, and when you click on the seller on here, it leads to search results with the name "jesses girl". It's quite unfortunate because I loved loved this brand.

I am editing my original review of this product because I tried one last ditch effort trick I knew of to try and get some lasting pigment from this shadow. I am pleased to report that if you use moist shadow brush (and it must stay moist or we go back to the powder just not sticking and having no pigment) to apply this shadow, you can achieve the beautiful royal blue lids you were after! It takes patience for each coat to dry and then adding several layers, but for this shade, I will do it! This is still not a high quality, last all day makeup. But for the price, I like it!

I like all of it: mica; color; consistency (loose); how concentrated it is so it lasts a long time; the container; the large amount.... Wish it was easier to find in the MANY COLORS they used to have at less cost.

This eyeshadow is exactly what I wanted. Cling power, because the shimmer is so fine that it goes on smooth as silk, intense color saturation, all day stay without primer. I had small glitch in my order but JESSE’S GIRL immediately went above and beyond to correct it. Customer For Life!!I’m 68 years old
