Best phone for hard of hearing people!
I took a chance on this phone and it did not disappoint! My grandmother is very hard of hearing and has used an older analog cordless phone for a while. When I saw the price on this phone, I figured what the heck.First, it has big bright LED'S that light up on both the base and the phone. This helps especially for those that don't hear so well but want to hear the phone ring while they are sleeping. Those bright lights are guaranteed to stir even the soundest of sleepers. The sound on this phone is rated at 30db with the boost at max. There is a regular volume control and then a boost button that amplifies the receiver. I can say that it is VERY loud. My grandmother is near deaf and did not have to even turn the boost on. The phone is not only loud but clear and that's not always an easy task for electronics manufacturers. The speaker is an actual speaker, not just a couple holes in the phone. This phone also has some stoutness making it easy for my grandmothers arthritic hands to grasp the phone for extended periods of time. The answering machine works great as well. This cordless phone has all the necessary menu features to make a phone complete: caller id, phone book memory, time, date, day, etc.Another thing that is great about this phone is that it is expandable. With this base/cordless phone combination you can buy just the solo version of this phone and set them other places where phone jacks don't exist and pair them with this base. Last but not least is the price. VERY reasonable for what this phone offers, especially compared to what I have seen.

Poor help from Uniden
Bought this for our 83 year old mother. The hand set started flashing,(visible ringer) about 1 week after we set it up. So far, we have talked to 2 different reps. Both have acted like we are stupid and can not follow simple directions. There is nothing to explain why the visible ringer on the hand set is flashing. The visible ringer on the base is not flashing. We turned the visible ringer switch on the back of the base to off. Hand set is still flashing. There are no messages. If anyone has had a similar experience and can tell us how to stop this flashing, that would be wonderful!

great for hearing aid compatibility
This is the third uniden phone I have bought, I have a hair salon and bought the first set for there. This has been a very well made sturdy phone, it is easy for my senior clients to see and use to call for a ride. I bought a second set for my parents since my mom has macular degeneration and my dad is hard of hearing this has been a wonderful set. It is easy to use and the only phone my dad has found to work well with his hearing aid. My moms eyes are getting worse, so she has a harder time dialing, but the one button to answer and hang up makes it nice for her to use. The third set was also bought for my parents to replace a phone in the basement.

its definately louder
I've had these phones for awhile now. And they are HUGE . . . which is nice and it's like having a speaker next to your ear so if you are sick and tired of these TINY little phones that you feel like you have to Listen by the ear piece and then reposition with your response so your mouth is actually speaking into the phone . . then you will love this. It actually is large enough that one is not feeling like they have to reposition. AND because of the size . . like I have said in other reviews of products I buy. I have three dogs, I run around my house a lot and am multi-tasking . . . people have to scream for me to hear them, these phones can take a BEATING, they are LOUD and they have a sound boost if LOUD is not LOUD enough, the speaker phone works great . . HOWEVER . .. . the caller id took awhile to figure out . . . hitting redial is not as easy as just hitting redial and boom it starts working . . I have yet to figure this out without having to redial the number myself. I have figured out that you can check your messages from the handset itself which is something I have never been able to do so you don't have to sit there at the machine station going through them all. But some of the functions elude me.Scrolling through caller id is not as easy, redial, and manuevering through the menu's is a bit of a task.If you are not tech savvy . . . .buyer beware! On upside . . . the greatest feature is that there is a big red button on the main station which is seperate from the extra handsets, and if you don't want to be disturbed, this red button not only silences all phones, but also silences the message machine WHILE it still has the ability to take messages. Great for people who work at night and sleep during the day. AND another plus . . . each handset flashes REALLY bright. So if you are hard of hearing like me . . . often I will see the flash before I ever hear the phone. Which again, if one person in your house sleeps during the day and you still need to know when the phone is ringing the FLASHING will let you know!
