Beef jerky as it ought to be
This is real beef jerky that tastes like meat, has good texture and is fun to snack on. I order several packages to come monthly on a subscription basis as my kids and I love this healthy snack. You know the stuff they sell at 7-11 they claim is beef jerky? Well, this is how this one is different:1. The meat has great texture. It is chewy, not brittle. You tear bites off with your teeth.2. The quality of the meat itself is quite good. Not too many fatty pieces - it tastes like beef, not chemicals.3. Unless you order teriyaki, the jerky is not sweet. Original flavor is just a tad spicy, but tolerable for kids. It's what we always get.4. It does not have an infinite shelf life. I found it go bad within a month or two. Bad for nuclear winter. Great for a healthy snack. :-)I love the little packages inside the big one. The jerky stays fresh longer.Enjoy!

MUST BUY FOR JERKY LOVERS!
This stuff is excellent!I have bought jerky online, and had it come in moldy or stale tasting - not this stuff! After initially dumping about half of the bag out to check for mold, I was surprised to find that it was very fresh. This jerky is UNBELIEVABLY tasty! I bought the pepper flavor, and found it to be extremely spicy (not hot spicy, spicy as in flavorful.) I would say that it has a very strong pepper flavor, combined with what would compare to the taste of a steak seasoning spice. The jerky's consistency was tender and moist with no stringy fat or gristle. This is almost the ideal jerky in my opinion, the only improvement would be to put it in the cooker for another 3-4 hours. I love my jerky to be tough, like chewing on an old dried out piece of leather! (I eat it too fast otherwise, this bag was gone in two days!)

Tender as promised, but more salt and gristle than bargained for
By now I've eaten half the bag so I know what's in here. Sure, their beef jerky is pretty tender. But for some reason they decided to throw in an insane amount of salt. I've had store-bought beef jerky and I've had quality Amazon beef jerky and this is definitely the saltiest by at least double. The first time I ate this, I could only handle 2 strips before I had to put it down again. My friend made a disgusted face and refused to have another bite. Luckily I am a salt lover so I can at least tolerate the extreme saltiness. But it's still too salty.Next up is the gristle. Sometimes amidst the generally tender bites there will be a mat of unchewable mass that I pretty much have to spit out or swallow whole. It happens more often than other brands and definitely more than I care for. Secondly, I don't know if it's the salt playing tricks on me, but the texture and taste is a bit worse than other brands, like they use lower quality jerky.Overall I believe that Wild Ride is less quality than most other brands, even when you factor in the low price. There are similarly priced brands that are of higher quality and lower sodium content. I don't know why they sell so well. Personally my next bulk order beef jerky will be with someone else.

"An Overall Decent Beef Jerky"
When you get bit by the "I gotta have it" beef jerky bug, we often times find what's available out there sub-par and expensive...and the cheap ass commercial beef jerky is often just a meat sludge that has been formed into pieces or strips of what seems like regurgitated meat by-products.Well, I'm happy to report that "WILD RIDE BEEF JERKY COWBOY STRIPS, BARBEQUE, 16oz BAG" makes a rather successful attempt at changing all that previous jerky heartache and give us an adequate product that soothes the meat beast within, and does it at an affordable, budget-conscious price that we can all enjoy.Generously cut strips of 100% pure beef that has been marinated in barbeque sauce and spices then smoked (artificial smoke flavoring added) to a savory, salty/sweet snack that can become quite addictive, especially if you have the munchies after a healthy smoka-da-ganja session and need to satisfy with repeated hits of this soft, tender and delicious real beef jerky. "WILD RIDE BEEF JERKY COWBOY STRIPS, BARBEQUE, 16oz BAG" definitely hits the spot.So reach into the fat bag of "WILD RIDE BEEF JERY COWBOY STRIPS, BARBEQUE, 16oz BAG" like the ravenous animal you know you are, grab a strip or a chunk of this savory jerky, shove it your wanton mouth and proceed to go to "why haven't I found this sooner?" nirvana while marveling at the wonderfully satisfying size, texture, look and taste of the stuff the REAL cowboys eat...the cool ones anyway.

It's great! And I'm beef jerky picky!
I love my beef jerky and this is the style I like at a great price, especially if subscribed. At $11 for a pound shipped, how can anyone complain? Since preferences differ, I'd class myself as disliking the moist style beef jerky that have become popular in recent years, I would say this is similar jack links, a bit more dehydrated. My favorite used to be a bone dry japanese brand I cant seem to find anymore. It's not quite that dry, and they do tenderize it it in some manner. However, not over processed so you'll some across vein and fat as some reviewer complained of, but it give it a very natural texture. I give it 5 stars although its not perfect in consideration of the absolutely low cost as 4 1/2 isn't an option.
