GEAR4 StreetParty 4 Portable Speaker Dock for iPod / iPhone (discontinued by manufacturer)

Its not often I take the trouble to put fingers to keyboard, but when i do its either because the item is rubbish or bloody excellent. On this occasion it's the later. I'm not going to pretend to offer advice to our younger turned on generation, because they probably know better than me. But if you're a silver surfer like me, read on... So you've just got your first iPod, either a cast off from some younger dude because he or she has just bought the latest16 mb thingy or you've shelled out on one yourself. You've managed to turn all your 78's and 45's into MP3 files and somehow magically uploaded itunes and with your grandsons help managed to get the tracks onto your iPod.After a short while you're fed up of listening to the tracks yourself and feel the need to share your digitally restored Gracie Fields songs, look no further, get one, no, not any other, this one. Considering the price, size, weight and features its great, volume sound quality again considering the price, brilliant. Highly recommended. 10/10

I was looking for a speaker dock with a lightweight mains adaptor for holiday use. Our old dock was lightweight but the adaptor weighed twice as much as the unit. Working on the assumption that technology moves on I felt sure newer products would have a lighter adaptor. I chose this one purely on price as it wasn't BOSE sound we were looking for.With usual Amazon efficiency the goods arrived in a couple of days and just as expected the unit was lightweight and easy for packing into a corner of the suitcase. The sound quality is actually quite good and more than adequate for use on holidays.Overall I am more than happy that this serves its purpose.

i love the size of this speaker dock, quite portable and easy to carry around if you want to. I bought it for use in my kitchen and to charge my iphone without having to carry my charger around. it is good for a small room, the sound is ok. If you wanted more bass or something for a bigger room, this may not be for you. The main downside for me is that I have to remove my iphone cover to or else it doesn't work. This can be quite frustrating and I have returned a previous docking station for the same reason. Would have returned this, but it's a cute, portable design and besides, I am tired of the returns so I guess I'll live with that for now. For the price, I'll live with it, it's fairly good value for money.

I've just received mine and given it a quick test with my iPhone 4 and have a few gripes:1) I have a Gear 4 rubber case and the phone doesn't sit in the socket with that on. So I've got to remove the case from the phone every time I want to dock it, which is going to be annoying.2) The sound quality doesn't appear to be anything to shout about, though perhaps I need more time to assess this.3) There is no aux out, so it can't be connected to a larger audio system.Overall, I'm not sure what makes this worth £30. I'll be giving it a few more days trial and will then decide whether or not to return it. It's certainly nothing special.

Got one after reading many good reviews. Bit confused about the remote control it didn't come with. Many reviews mention it but, no remote. Not a big deal. Can live with that.Slightly bigger issue though. The dock only worked on battery power and not on mains power. Checked output of mains adapter with a voltmeter and confirmed a faulty adapter. No time left to send it back as item is needed for our family holiday. Dived into our local Maplins and bought an expensive replacement. Gear4 dock £24, replacement adapter £12.49.That said, what a cracking, well designed little unit.Alas only 3 stars. Would've been 5.

...some of the other reviews here give the impression the sound is amazing. It's not, but it is a nice little dock, perfect in a small room. Sound is thin/tinny, lacking any real bass. I'd expect this at the price but, as I say, the other reviews had led me to expect better.

I've given it 3 stars as I've not even used it so can't really comment. I bought it from Amazon on the basis of their product description. It is described as coming with a remote control and a convenient carry case. It came with neither. I contacted Gear4 and this is what they said:I'm Sorry to hear Your product didn't arrive as you expected however there are 2 version of the street party 4, one has remote control functionality PG447 and the later version dose not PG550.(Their grammar & spelling, not mine).I'm returning it for a Size 0.

The size doesn't reflect the money spent.
