Schmidt’s started in Portland, Oregon in 2010 when during the Maker Movement Jaime Schmidt developed a formula that filled a void in the marketplace: a plant-based natural deodorant that helped keep her family fresh and smell amazing. Fast forward to 2015, Schmidt’s viral success caught the attention of entrepreneur Michael Cammarata, and together, the unlikely power duo built Schmidt’s into a natural products empire. Today, Schmidt’s plant- and mineral-based personal care products are available all around the world. Ingredients:Maranta Arundinacea (Arrowroot) Powder, Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Fractionated Coconut Oil), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Natural Fragrance, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Magnesium Hydroxide, Tocopherol (Vitamin E, Sunflower Derived)

Natural Deodorant that does not destroy your skin
I've transitioned from anti-perspirant to natural deodorant, and it's been a hard move. Either the deodorants are not strong enough (i sweat a lot) or they do work, but they leave my skin very irritated. After burning my armpits with various other deodorants (baking soda is terrible for your skin and many natural deodorants use baking soda in large quantities). I found this formula both effective and gentle. I do still have to supplement the deodorant with Burt's bees dusting powder, but honestly I sweat through anti-perspirant because, like I mentioned before, I am very sweaty.

TO GOOD TO BE TRUE
The scent is great! Although, the product itself is a miss. The gritty substance can cause inflammation and scratches on the skin. Not to mention, you have to add heat to the deodorant stick in order for it to roll on smoothly. Definitely do not recommend for those with sensitive skin,, it may only irritate you. I am also a darker fitzpatrick and I experienced darkening under the arms. It literally looked like dirt under my arms. So beware.

Disappointing
Several years ago I bought Schmidt’s because I was looking for a natural deodorant, and I fell in love with it. It was a little abrasive, but at least it kept my sweat to a minimum and I didn’t stink at the end of the day. A few years ago, when my deodorant arrived it had little, hard balls of something in it (like this picture). I reached out to the company, and they tried to tell me that things like this happen with natural deodorant and they’d send me a replacement... but the replacement was exactly the same. So, I decided I’d try to make my own deodorant. It’s a little time consuming and it makes a mess, but I got good results. I made my own deodorant for years, but a few weeks ago I got lazy and decided I’d try Schmidt’s again. After all, they surely corrected the problem. But they didn’t. And now that I’ve been making my own deodorant for years, I can tell you that the little round hard balls didn’t happen in shipping. They happened because they hurried the process and didn’t allow the wax (I use bees wax. Not sure what they use) to completely melt. It’s the most frustrating part of the process, but if it’s not done right, this is what you get.I gave 2 stars because I love this scent, but Schmidt’s has tried to hurry the process and has created a disappointing product. I guess I’ll stop being lazy and make my own from now on.**Note: if you buy the sensitive version of Schmidt’s, you may avoid the disappointment. I tried that and it was a much better, but more expensive, product.

If it’s too good to be true, it probably is
I bought these on Amazon thinking it’s a steal compared to how much I pay for the same deodorant at the drug store. Unfortunately, it was too good to be true. These must be expired or part of a poorly managed supply chain because they do not work at all. The texture is very different than the SAME varieties I buy in-store and they all have a weird smell, as if expired. None actually works to prevent body odor. Tossed this out, went back and got the same thing from the drugstore and magically, it worked. Will never buy these personal care products on Amazon again. Lesson learned.

Was so excited to find this scent combo again!
Light scent. Not flowery or spicey, more of a warm subtle scent. You do need to hold the uncapped product under your arm to warm it up so it becomes soft enough to apply. I believe this is due to the lack of all the chemicals found in many of the big-name commercial brands.

Moon Flower is suffering poor product quality
Scent I am reviewing is Moon Flower--Not Cedarwood Juniper!! Moon Flower is suffering poor product quality. Something wrong with the consistency of the deodorant material. It's very clumpy and goes on in small chunks that fall off. Maybe the lot I've purchased has been exposed to heat or temperature or it's been on the shelf for too long? I don't know. This is my favorite brand of deodorant and I haven't changed my mind about them because they have other scents I like that aren't problematic. Cedarwood Juniper is good as is Charcoal scent. I returned my first Moon flower purchase and replacement has same problem. I wouldn't recommend this scent until quality improves. If you've had a different experience with this, good for you.

Ylang Ylang scented product defective; choose Rose Vanilla instead
I first purchased a three-pack of the Schmidt's Ylang Ylang stick deodorants, and found that, besides really strongly disliking the scent (connected to childhood experience of bathroom cleaners at school), there was something seriously wrong with the formula for the deodorant used with this scent: the texture was rough, wouldn't rub off on skin, and formed gravel-like chunks that fell apart as I tried to apply it. (See the attached photo). toShould you happen to receive the same bumpy-looking product, don't try to use it (trust me, it makes a mess). Just contact the company. They couldn't have been nicer, and promptly mailed out a different three-pack, this time in the Rose Vanilla scent. Not only was the scent a winner, this formula was smooth, and as it warmed to my skin, glided across the underarm to leave a thin protective film (without residue or beading). After such a strange and unsatisfactory experience with the mess that was the Ylang Ylang, I was relieved to receive a product that not only worked, but smelled as pleasant as it was easy to use. The company also saved me the hassle of returning the defective product, which is a huge plus for me. The Rose Vanilla scent is fine for my husband as well; he likes it, and doesn't feel that the scent is too feminine--in any case, it isn't overpowering and doesn't assert itself enough to interfere with any other scents you layer or wish to feature from other products in your daily routine of ablutions. Highly recommended, and hopefully the Ylang Ylang was a one-off, just a bad batch. Thank you, Schmidt's!

Short lasting/Stinky pits
At first it smells good and I like that it is smooth, but oh my gosh the white gunk gets on everything! My couch, my clothes, and it does not keep my pits dry at all. It actually makes them smell terrible!!! I can’t stand the smell. It actually gives me BO rather than preventing it. This does not work whatsoever. Maybe for 10 min, but that’s about it. I’m going to try to return.
