The new design on this 5-inch random orbital sander from Hitachi is going to really turn some heads. This single speed unit delivers 230 watts from the powerful 2 amp motor, and produces a no-load speed of 12,000 rpm. Operation is guaranteed to be smooth and precise with the all ball bearing construction, while the soft elastomer grip reduces vibration and provides a comfortable hold. Hitachi has also incorporated a pad control system to maintain speed and minimize gouges. This model uses 8-hole hook-and-loop sandpaper, and it includes a 5-inch sanding paper, dust bag, and five 120-grit sanding discs.

The integrated dust collection bag ensures a cleaner environment, keeps the work surface clear and extends the life of the sanding paper. Standing at only 5-11/16-inches high and weighing only 3-pounds, this compact workhorse will make a nice addition to any woodworker's arsenal. Great little pad sander, great little price.
If it weren't for the hook and loop base that tends to wear a little quickly, I'd give it a 5. As a professional cabinetry and Millwork business owner, I have always been impressed at how well these little sanders perform. I would choose the Hitachi over the other brands any day, and I've owned them all. I currently own about 8 of these and they run all day long in a commercial shop. This little sander outperforms others costing much more.

Another great tool from hitachi
I really enjoy hitachi tools for the price and quality and this is no different. This is the only random orbital sander i've ever used, but it was easy to figure out and been a great help on weekend projects.

Had for about a month, bearing blew up in it. Don't see if I can warranty it :/ wouldn't recommend. We are a regular woodworking shop and have dozens of orbital sanders. This one performed great but didn't even outlast my harbor freight one.

Love this Sander!
Great little sander, you can get replacement pads from Lowes or Home Depot made by Gator brand, instead of buying the Hitachi sandpaper for it.........

Works like a sander should but I don’t like the size of the bag on the back or that the on off button is not enclosed to prevent dust
