Quality boots
These boots are some of the most comfortable right out of the box that I've ever had. They are extremely supportive and springy. Walking in them is a pleasure, especially on natural surfaces. I've worn them on easy wooded trails with stones and roots and they felt very stable. I have an unfortunate penchant for sprained ankles and I'm happy with the ankle coverage and support. I deliberately walked through about 3" of water with them yesterday and they passed that test with flying colors. The leather is soft, the uppers are somewhat stiff and require a bit of breaking in, but seems like they will continue to soften and mold to my feet as time goes by. It looks like they can be re-soled, a must for a shoe that is supposed to get better with age. I don't much care for the narrowish toe, though I have plenty of wiggle room, the look is somewhat narrower than I like, I think if they had rounded and blunted the toes a bit it would make more sense. The Stone color is pretty spot on stone color. In darker light they look sort of brown, but really they are a solid lighter gray, with darkened toes and heel. A bit too light for me really, but I am darkening them with coconut oil and its working pretty well. The thing that takes a star away is that they are not so good for standing and working on a concrete floor. It's a rare shoe that can remain comfortable in that environment. I usually wear Keens at work and will probably stick with them for that purpose. I do like these boots though and am glad I got them. I expect they will last well beyond my need to stand on concrete floors for 8 hours a day. I wear between an 8.5 and a 9, leaning toward a 9 in most shoes. I got an EU 40 and they fit perfectly with medium and light weight wool socks. .

Very comfortable and warm (mostly wore in 30-40F degrees)
I wore it everyday for the past 8 days in Chicago. Very comfortable and warm (mostly wore in 30-40F degrees). I really like the color and the top two lacing half rings (i dont know how to call them) make it really easy to wear and take off without having to loosen the laces too much. I had to take my boots of at the airport security checkpoint and despite having laces, it was really easy and fast to get them off and back on. Leather seems high quality. I usually scratch the front of my boots all the time and obviously it caused some scratch and mark on the front part of the boots. I applied leather protecting water proofing gels on them and they are good as new, with no visible scratches. The only drawback is that it looks a bit big and clowny compared to my other shoes. but i guess it is expected for boots. Looks great on leggings. Seems water proof. Haven't got a chance to try them in rain. But slushy weather in Chicago did not get through these boots. Overall very satisfied and I was looking for warm boots before switching to extremely warm and tall boots for Boston's winter in late January and February, but now i am considering to wear them all the way through winter with warmer socks, as the boots have more room.

Comfortable and true to fit for my size 9, slightly narrow feet.
Followed suggestions on reviews and sized up, but they were too big. Exchanged for my usual size 9, and they fit perfectly. My feet are a bit narrow, but didn't need any extra padding or socks to make these comfortable or keep from sliding. The first day, I wore them all day around the house and running a few errands. Tried them for 3 hours of light hiking the next, and they were great - didn't really need a breaking-in period. It's been dry, so no idea how waterproof they truly are. Haven't worn them in temps below 40 Fahrenheit, but my usually cold feet have been fine with one pair of wool socks. Bonus is that I received a few compliments on them when worn with skinny jeans. These were a bit of an expensive splurge for me, but am very please and I think I'll get my money's worth out of them.

Very well made, but be sure to use the sizing tool before ordering
I ordered a pair of these boots in my normal size, but they ended up being way too small. After using the sizing tool provided on the ordering page (which works very well, BTW), it turns out that I needed to order the next size up. I returned the original pair (the process was very quick and seamless) and had my husband order another pair for me one size up. They arrived on time and fit like a dream!!! I'm so glad because these boots are VERY well made, look great, and are quite comfortable right out of the box now that I have the correct size. They're a little stiff at first, but that's to be expected for this type of shoe. I have no doubt that they will break in well and the width is just right now. I highly recommend them, but just be sure to use the sizing tool to determine your correct size. If not for the size issue, I would have given them 5 stars.

Great winter-time boots!
I've worn these on a few rainy days already and they seem to be holding up very nicely.I did order a size up (based on reviews by others) and that worked out for me pretty well. I'm usually a 39EU but I ordered a 40EU. They are a wee bit long in the toe but the rest fits nice and snug (the length doesn't affect anything, really, but I am still getting used to the extra bit of length when I try to go down stairs). I don't like thick socks so my thin socks work out very well. And the soles are quiet, not squeaky on floors - which works out well since my office is all bare flooring, not carpet. They are also warm so they work well for non-rainy cold-ish days, too. I can't wait to see how they do in snow!

Supple Leather -Expected Ecco Confirt & Quality
Purchased the stone and the tan at the same time. My street sho size is 7.5M, but purchased the 39 to wear for daily hiking on the Camino. The footbed offers minimal support but is removeable. I replaced it with my vionic active orthotic. Now with the proper lacing my heels are locked in place and my foot is completely supported. The leather on the stone grey is more supple than the tan. The color is a nice rich warm grey. Plenty of room in the toe box even with the orthotic and double layer socks. Will update as I put more miles on them & then in June after my 120mile Camino.Update: after a couple of 3 mile hikes around the subdivision lake these are a no go. I need more cushioning under foot. The laces need double knots to keep them tied. Too hot for temps 80+.

Just the job.
Ever since a pair of Ecco boots I originally bought nearly 20 years ago finally gave up the ghost - after about 8 years - I have been trying, and failing, to find a pair of walking boots/shoes that I liked as much. These are they. Other ankle-high boots have failed the comfort test - these haven't because of the quality leather collar. Other boots with tough soles have failed the "walk all day" test - these haven't because the style of the boot - the laces start higher up the foot than a low ankle type - means they are more comfortableThe fact that the laces start higher up the foot means there is no pressure over toes and the front of my feet, and the sole appears to be more flexible when compared to the boots I am replacing, although it's hardly any different. These boots are not as soft and flexible as that old pair but they ARE comfortable. They did feel a little rigid when I first tried them on but I wore them every day for a few days - nothing heavy, just general walking - and already they feel like an old & favourite pair.I checked Ecco's own website for sizing advice before I bought them and bought he 7.5 when I would have otherwise bought a 7. Perfect fit: not too big at all but I could certainly wear a thicker sock in winter if I wanted to.

Shoes were rather dirty when I received them
Shoes were rather dirty when I received them. Same size in all my other Ecco shoes unfortunately didn't work out with these ones. Way too big, roomy and just different in size to all the Eccos I had before. Generally they look like a good make but really - try them on in a shop otherwise you have to spend 9.00 Β£ for sending them back

Soooo comfy.
Perfect. Comfort from the first wearing. Adore them. May have to buy a second pair to keep as spares when these wear out in a few years. Ecco last and last but not forever sadly.
