Solid Tent, Great features
This tent is cozy. I like that you can leave the rainfly off and still have privacy. The high walls also kept sand out better than all mesh. Great view of the night sky, although the poles do obstruct the view a bit. Nice big doors. It feels really solid when the wind in blowing because of the sturdy poles and the fact that the poles slip into a sleeve near the bottom. Inside, there's a place to hang a little light, loops to rig a clothes line of sorts and two large pockets. The pockets are about half way up, which I liked better than having the pockets close to the bottom. Easy to put up and take down except for the footprint - it connects in an unusual way and takes a little bit of fiddling, buth to connect it and to disconnect it. The footprint is smaller than the actual tent floor. The only negative is that it does take up some space. However, I was able to comfortably use it for a kayak camping trip. I think it will easily fit 2 people, but that's different for everyone.

Great tent
This tent was easy to put up by my husband after he familiarized himself with the instructions(every tent is a little different so save yourself the time and just glance them over). I don’t think he’ll need to use them again after the first time. It’s tall and roomy enough for a queen size air mattress with plenty of room to walk around. The rain fly totally covers the tent. My husband and son slept in it for a couple July nights to test it out with a fan mounted across the ceiling and they said it was very comfortable. It also withstood the rain and wind we had while it up. No leaks. The only issue we had is that brand new out of the box the ridge pole was broken. My husband used gorilla tape to hold it together so he could use it. I contacted Kelty customer service and they sent a new ridge pole. I hope these poles don’t turn out to be low quality because the rest of the tent is great. I’ll update if we have any further issues.

Good wind resistance
Not re-writing the very thorough review because for some unspecified reason it was in violation of Amazon policy. Short story: camped on the beach with constant 20-25 mph winds and rain. Tent held up well. The end. 🤬

Kelty does it again
Once again, I find myself amazed by Kelty's combination of quality and affordability. Having purchased numerous Kelty backpacks, it's no surprise that their tents uphold the same principles. The tent itself boasts an incredibly easy setup, sturdy construction, and reasonable weight. It proves to be a perfect choice for regions with temperature fluctuations. Considering the price point, weight, and quality, the cost truly feels like a steal. If you're open to trading a bit more weight for a warmer night's sleep, this becomes an excellent option. Kelty's enhancements over other companies are the kind you'd expect from individuals who use their own gear. The tent bag features a wide opening, the tent poles effortlessly slide into durable pockets, and it even comes with high-quality stakes.Personal Experience:I had the chance to take this tent camping with a group of 20-30 people. Out of all the tents, this one was the quickest to both set up and take down. Its distinctive colors and material thickness also made it stand out in the crowd.

Love this tent
Everything I’d expect from a Kelty. My first Kelty was a Salida 2 for backpacking. It withstood downpours and harsh winds and always kept me bone dry so I knew I where to turn for a family tent.Mama has to have a tent she can stand up in, so I was deciding between this and the tall boy. I could already tell I didn’t like the lack of mesh in the tall boy so I went with the Discovery 6.It’s mama, the baby (and his playpen), the pitbull, and myself. This tent has ALL the room we need and more. I also really like this tent having 2 doors w/ vestibules...and the vestibules provide more room than I would ever use.The tent was incredibly easy to set up, when following directions. I failed to follow the instructions when attaching the smaller pole along the top of the tent from door to door and snapped the pole. Kelty initially said it would take 4-6 weeks to fix/replace, but had it back to me in a weeks time. Note I take sole responsibility for the breaking of this pole and don’t believe it was a defect. But be careful.Attaching the rain fly was quite the task by myself (I’m 5’11”)...This tent is just so tall. But of course, is waaaaay easier with a helping hand. This tent has been through 2 heavy rains already and not a single drop of water or condensation inside! Kelty did it again! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Rainfly not so fly
I bought the 6 person version this spring (2021) and my family used it for a weekend right away. I was impressed by the design. It made it easy to set up. I feared the plastic tent pole clips would break over time, but so far have survived some sustained high wind days. After the first weekend, I’ve used the tent for 7 days in CO, 10 days in OR, and am currently using it in CA. I’ve had it up 7 days in this trip. Last night I noticed multiple rips in the rain fly, while lying in my cot. Luckily, I had a patch kit, which I got to repair a hole I got in Oregon when a hole was made by one of the vestibule pole ends after a very windy day. I didn’t fault the material, but rather the windy conditions for that hole. The new ones appear to be material failures. There were 4 and don’t seem to be at any particular stretch point. Two are about an inch in length, while the other 2 are L-shaped and are 2-3 inches. Completely unsatisfactory after a total of 26 days of use.Update. By the time I had used the tent for 12 days in California the rainfly material and the carry bag, which was made of the same material, had multiple linear rips where the material failed. I uploaded photos. You can see my patching efforts. The carry bag was always in my truck, so it was relatively protected, yet still suffered a linear tear. Needless to say, this got thrown out. It’s too bad, because the design is well thought out.
