Just What I Needed To Help A Older PC...
I have a Dell GX270 that was running at 2.8 gigs and I had upgraded the RAM and video card but I needed a CPU that would let me get a bit more use out of it. (I can't spring for a new system anytime soon.) Anyway, I checked to see what my MB would take and it seemed that a P4 3.06 gig was what I was coming up with. The problem with this is a have another used Dell Dimension 3000 running at 2.8 gig and wanted step it up a bit too. (It was running a 2.8 gig Prescott and the GX270 had a P4 2.8 gig Northwood.) What;s the big deal you ask? Well, the Prescott runs at 800 MHz FSB and a L2 cache of 1 mg, whereas the Northwood run a 533 FSB and a L2 cache of 512 Mg. And I wasn't sure a 3.0 gig P4 Prescott would work in the GX270 as I had tried a 3.6 P4 Prescott and it down throttled to 2.8 on my MB as the system would support it. So, I decided to try this P4 3.0 gig Prescott and see. It worked like a charm. So now I have this chip on my GX270 and it runs faster than my Dimension 3000 which has the 3.06 P4 gig chip on it. One really good thing was that this CPU had two other features I really didn't know about. It has the SEE3 instruction set and has HT tech. on it. So both my systems came out ahead with the switch. A really good buy!

Awesome
This is awesome made my computer work. One day my computer's USB port stopped working so I took the computer apart and took the heat sink off which holds a processor and put the heat sink back in with the processor on the bottom but you're never supposed to do that I didn't know it but there's one with a lot of little pins and if even one is bent your cpnwont turn on. Luckily I had two sell gx270 towers and the one I wanted it to work on didn't work. I think one of the little pins on the bottom of the processor broke off so I put it in the other one and it worked . Highly recommend this especially for the price. I didn't know it came with thermal paste so thanks for that

Penkiutm 4 3ghz
This product worked however I had to lapp the cpu because it had so many scraches and dents in the top it was having a hard time mating with the heatsink surface and needed a lot of thermal paste. It looked as if someone jabbed it with a screwdriver multiple times and a corner of the pcb was broke off. I gave it 2 stars because it worked perfectly after fixing it.

DOA
The CPU was dead on arrival. The computer would not display anything on the monitor what so ever. the computer was working fine until i plugged this in and then nothing. not even an inital boot screen. All the other components worked fine. The only explanation is that this CPU was dead on arrival.as a side note; it was well packaged and shipped promptly.
