TiVo AG0100 Wireless G Network Adapter

My household operates on cellular hotspot and over-the-air digital TV signal to avoid the dish and cable and its expense. This Wireless G Adapter connects my TiVo to the internet whenever I have my phone's hotspot activated and allows TiVo to update both its software and TV programming, and was very easy to set up with the TiVo menu.

I am currently using 3 G Adapters. When I had to add a 4th I went through 3 more units that did not work. 2 I bought at Amazon and thinking they were a bad batch, I bought the next one at Best Buy. No matter how I swapped them between my Tivo DVRs, even trying different cables, all 3 were faulty and were returned. When these adapters work they work well and I would rate them 5 stars. They are truly plug and play and get the job done. But when they don't...well they don't and would be deserving of 0 stars. Hence a middle of the road 3 stars. Tivo support could not fathom how 3 units bought at 2 different stores were defective. They were certain I was doing something wrong. I ended up buying a Linksys WES610N wireless bridge and used a LAN cable connecting the Tivo and Roku. All is well now.

I was using a non-TIVO device to attach my TIVO to the internet. (I didn't have time to order the TIVO Network adapter before my system was installed and bought the adapter at a local electronics store.) I had to re-sync it at least once a week. I was checking everyday to find out if the last download had worked. When I got a new modem for my internet, it had 2 WiFi channel and the sync no longer worked. The TIVO Adapter allowed me to choose the WiFi channel and when I go to the network settings, I know how strong the WiFi is. I no longer check to see if the download was successful.

I prefer this adapter for my Tivo Premier as it does not require a separate power source like some earlier models. The speed is fast enough for me to transfer files between Tiros at a reasonable rate. I am glad I no longer have to worry about running an ethernet cable to the Tivo from the router.I was able to plug in the adapter and connect to my wireless easily. It was up and working in just a few minutes.

This adapter was super easy to install by plugging in one simple wire, and it works! It was also far less expensive than the incorrect Type N which I had earlier ordered by mistake.

This helps solve the issue of needing to have a wired connection pretty well. I've always managed to get the middle of the night downloads, so no issues there. Streaming stops midway sometimes, but I wonder more if that's related to the wireless device or Tivo not having the processing ability and gets stuck sometimes. Fast forward or rewind a couple seconds and it'll start streaming again, just a little odd since I don't have that issue on any other devices I stream from.

I have been a long term fan of Tivo products. When the need arose for a wireless web communicator, I found this one and installed it effortlessly. Tivo has made a huge contribution to our home.

Wish I had known about this network adapter a long time ago. My TiVo is 20 years old.. Still working but needed some upgrade to wifi.. This made all the difference in the world..thanks
