Transform an Old Analog TV to stream Amazon Video with Tivo
The media could not be loaded. Maybe it was nostalgia, but I wanted to keep at least one working Analog TV. In August of 2016, I still had two of these 150 LB beasts and they worked great. The problem with keeping them was to figure out how to get all the modern features and on demand applications, like Amazon Video, to work on an old school Analog TV. The answer for me was Tivo and this cable. I used my Tivo mini to extend my Tivo Roamio and then this mini AV cable to go from the Tivo Mini to the Analog TV.This feature works on my Tivo Mini, but the link below also states the following are supported.https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201480650TiVo Roamio (Series 5)TiVo Mini (Series 5)TiVo Premiere (Series 4)The cables are well built, and I used the Yellow, Red, White analog one to connect a Tivo Mini (which extends a Tivo Roamio) to an old Analog TV. TiVo Mini Composite and Component Cable Kit I did not end up using the component cable, Red Blue Green, which was also included in the kit.In August of 2016 I could even still find one massive Analog CRT TV available for sale on Amazon. Wow. SHARP 34HF200 34" CRT Multisystem TV 220 Volts PAL/SECAM Why turn an old Analog TV into a modern smart TV that can stream Amazon video? As for me, the reason was simple. I had a old HDTV Sony WEGA KD-34XBR970 34-Inch FD Trinitron Digital HDTV at one point which I sold. It made my wife happy to remove this huge unit from the house, but I kind of missed it. I grew up with massive floor sitting 4:3 console TVs so I'm sure it was simply nostalgia driving me to buy this cable. When I was 6 my father used to have me run up and smack the side of the wood console TV cabinet and somehow it fixed the picture. The result of using this cable was great for HTDV channels. They are stretched a little tall to fit the shorter width of the 4:3 SD TV but the "tall stretch" didn't look that bad to me. Once the Tivo Video settings were changed to only support 4:3 SD TVs, the analog TV stations on my cable subscription looked great too. I had to hit Zoom on the remote to get the aspect ratio right for stations broadcasting in SD. Check out the video (if I can get it to upload) I made of streaming The Twilight Zone from the Amazon Tivo App to the Analog TV and also the Outer Limits in SD, which happened to be live on cable at the same time.I hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane. If you still have an old Analog TV sitting in storage somewhere and also happen to be a Tivo Premier, Roamio, or Mini owner, well then, in August of 2016, it is still possible use modern streaming tools to see Analog TV how it used to look on an actual Analog TV. And you can even use this cable with your Amazon Prime Membership to stream classic shows like the Twilight zone to a Standard Definition old Analog TV using the Amazon App on Tivo.

Makes TiVo cooperate with your old -- but still good -- TV
Brilliant kit. Depending on how old your non-HDMI TV is and what TiVo device you're trying to connect, you probably will not need all the connections provided. But this kit makes sense -- rather than cataloging 36 different possible configurations, all reasonably conceivable composite/component/audio connections are provided. So what if one or two connectors dangle unused from the back of your old Magnavox? Save yourself an hour of standing in the Radio Shack A/V isle trying to figure out which three adapter cables you need to splice together while some clueless employee feeds you bad advice. Just buy this and get up and running.Big fan of weaKnees. They have everything you need to keep your old discontinued TiVo stuff operable, plus good help articles and technical data.

If you want component or composite output from the TIVO Mini you need these
For those that aren't aware, the TIVO mini has a single proprietary plug for component output and another one for composite output. There is also an HDMI socket. The mini is pretty small so having 6 RCA plugs in the back would have been a tight fight. Hence the need for these cables. I needed to hook up component to my TV so I hooked up the green/blue/red cable to the component video input and the red/white of the composite cable to the corresponding audio input. Sound and video worked great. These cables can also be ordered $5 cheaper from TIVO but when shipping cost is factored in these end up costing less. From Amazon it arrived the day after I ordered it.

TiVo Mini Component Cable
I bought these cables along with another TiVo Mini (my 4th) to use with an older Sharp LC-15E1U Liquid Crystal TV. I consider myself fairly savvy in electronic hook-ups, however I just couldn't get the component display on the TV to work. Finally I went back on to Amazon and reading the reviews I found one that hit me right between the eyes. I neglected to change the setting on the Mini to 480i display. Works perfectly now. I think weaKnees should put an insert into the product bag giving you a heads up on using the component cable with the proper Mini and TV display settings. All in all, I'm pleased that we can use a perfectly good, older tv with a great picture using a MINI and these cables.

Perfect companion for the Mini with older TVs
If you are using a Tivo Mini on an older TV w/o an HDMI input, then you will need this cable set. One cable is needed for analog L/R stereo audio and Composite video. The 2nd cable is only needed when you desire a much higher quality analog video interface using Component video. In summary, you don't need the 2nd cable if you are using the Composite video input on your TV and you need both cables if using the Component video input. These cables are perfect for older TVs. I'm using them on my older HDTV with component video inputs.

Nice Cable Set
Connecting a TiVo Mini to an old CRT Sony TV (no HDMI) worked as described once I corrected the video output format on my TiVo Mini. On the initial power up with both cables connected to the component input of the TV, the TV displayed a wait screen for a short time and then the picture became scrambled. I changed the connection to a composite only and got the TiVo video setup screen to display and was able to configure the Mini to only display 480i. Any other output format caused a scrambled screen when switched back to component input on the TV even though the test output setup on the video output screen (Mini) indicated my TV would support all the video output choices when hooked to composite input (TV). Length of cables were sufficent 72" each set.
