Second engine rebuild
Bought my car from a sketchy dealership and alas the engine went caput because of the lower manifold gaskets. I replaced it including the header gaskets with the normal felpro. After 6 months or so it started leaking antifreeze into the engine again. I think it is just the build of the engine. not a good Idea to have all edges of gaskets meet in one place sealed with liquid gasket. But alas I have been using these gaskets I have now for a while driving my car hard and there is no sign of it wearing down. I do think it fixes the 3400 sfi's leakage problem. Just don't be afraid to torque down the bolts.

A MUST have if you still have the factory lower intake gaskets on your engine or if the lower intake is leaking
For my car , an 04 3.4L Impala this gasket set is a MUST have the factory lower intake gaskets on your engine or if the lower intake is leaking . The lower intake gaskets from the factory are synthetic and will rot form exposure to the coolant in the engine. These new gaskets form Fel-Pro are STEAL and only rubber/gasket material where the holes need to be sealed. This fixes the lower intake gasket leaking problem that plagues this engine. the valve cover gaskets are also nice and thick and make a good seal. The upper intake gaskets also make a good seal, and I believe that there are a few O rings in here as well. BE CAREFUL WHEN SEATING THE LOWER INTAKE AS THE HOLES ON THE MANIFOLD AND THE GASKET NEED TO LINE UP EXACTLY BEFORE YOU BOLT IT DOWN OR THE HOLES WILL TEAR THE RUBBER/GASKET MATERIAL AND YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER SET TO GET THESE TWO LOWER INTAKE GASKETS REPLACED!!! you will hear a very distinct "THUMP/THUDDING" sound when the manifold is properly seated to the gaskets.... IF YOU DO NOT HEAR THIS PULL IT BACK UP SLOWLY AND TRY AGAIN UNTIL YOU DO. "Rocking, or moving" it back and forth to do this will also tear the rubber/gasket part of this gasket and you will have buy another set just to replace these two gaskets. To make life easier I highly recommend that you buy some high tack gasgascinch or something similar for the valve cover gaskets so they do not fall off when trying to bolt the valve covers back on.

expensive but fel pro part is large and seals well
The thick blue line around the motor now reassures me this major flaw in the GM 3400 3.4l engine will not bother me ever again.I had originally a bad review but it was the fault of the mechanic (prob drunk) and thought I had a vac leak from non fel pro kit parts. ( It is my understanding that the main gasket is fel pro while the rest is mashup of other manufacturers GM 3400 gasket parts) I figured out he put EGR in backwards and now the engine is smooth. It fixed a long puzzle of the overheating motor. Now its reliable and I believe the oversize "goopy" nature of the gasket will keep this motor from leaking ever again. If you can afford it prob worth the extra. The actual intake gasket is really great quality and will probably seal any deformity or other factors that would cause a 2nd leak to occur.Once a gasket blows the area is prone to failure do NOT ever buy OEM gasket for repair , it will not last unless you resurface the intake mating pieces (REALLY NOT WORTH IT)NEW NOTE:DO NOT BUY THRU AMAZON, they will allow some scam retailers to bait and switch you and the " a-z guarantee" is no guarantee it's just a marketing scheme so you feel safe but once's your scammed they just keep the money. They do not care about anything but your money try a small business who cares. I was a long time purchaser thru amazon but I got ripped off. I should have never fell for the big business scam.

GM 3.1L / 3.4L V6 Intake Manifold Gasket Set
This item is exactly what the doctor ordered for those of you who are suffering from the dreaded LIM gasket failure on GM cars equipped with the 3.1L or 3.4L V6 engine. It typically manifests itself as milky, antifreeze contaminated oil. The engine may be overheating as well. This is due to a physical breakdown of the existing OEM plastic and silicone gasket. It lacks the strength to deal with the expansion and contraction at the interface between the aluminum cylinder heads, aluminum intake manifold, and the cast iron engine block. This allows antifreeze from the cooling passages to leak internally, externally and/or sometimes both. Either way, this product will fix the problem permanently. It contains rubber coated steel PermaDry lower intake manifold gaskets. You can find an excellent how to on GM 3.1L / 3.4L LIM Gasket replacement here:[...]This particular part number, MS98003T applies to newer 3.4L V6's from 1999 onwards. For older 3.1L's up to 1998, use MS98004T. Be sure that you use ONLY one of these two sets. There are other, cheaper sets that duplicate the original OEM gasket construction materials. They WILL fail in short order. From about mid 2003 onwards, these improved gaskets are installed as stock from the factory, replacing the old plastic ones. One tool that you may want to consider for this job can be found here on Amazon, Lisle Push Rod Remover 2.8L, 3.1L, 3.4L GM V6. It allows you to remove the pushrods without removing the rocker arms. It saves about 2 hours or so on the job. A video demonstration can be viewed here:[...]

I am a big fan of fel pro products for ...
I am a big fan of fel pro products for over 25 years. I replaced the intake gasket on my 02 Malibu at abt 70k.it was driven another 110k and the intake gasket went out again. The OEM and the first fel pro gasket had a fabric frame which on both gasket split and crumbled causing water to run into oil pan . This gasket is made with a metal frame. I think if the OEM and the first fel pro gasket set was made with a metal frame ,they would not had fell as quickly even tho the fel pro lasted longer than oem. Fel-pro improved their product. Hope this will help someone .
