Sevylor Electric Trolling Motor for Small Boats

This motor is not very fast nor strong. It is for my son and his Sevylor fish hunter boat. It is manageable for him and it allows him to learn about boating in a safe way.

My only gripe and it is small - not a shred of instructions in or on the box. Strange for an electrical device.It is not very powerful, but works a long time on a small battery so perfect for a small inflatable or (in my case) a fishing kayak.The rod mount drops right on the rudder bracket on my kayak, and I rigged a simple bell-crank to the shaft to connect my rudder pedals.

This was a present for my son's 16th birthday. He loves the new motor, it was new in the box and exactly as described. Thanks for quick shipping. I would rate shipping and product with an A+. Thanks Amazon!

Don't do business with Leisure Pro. I ordered 2 SBM-18 motors for my Inflatable 3-Person Boat one of which arrived with no propeller. After weeks now emailing, and by phone trying to get a propeller. I have yet to receive any satisfaction. They finally sent me to Coleman company, and after trying that avenue still nothing. I would love to evaluate the motor, but they don't run very well with no propeller.I have also looked on the web to see if I could find a prop that I could buy and found out that I am not the only one looking and most reports are saying the company doesn't even make spares.I am ready to send all items back to the company and try plan B ( whatever that will be ).So be advised when dealing with this company. They do not support their productsUPDATE weeks later. Having bought more than one motor, I can say that the motor is fine. Nice power and light weight. I will give the motor a 4 star rating, but stand by the low rating for support. I am still waiting for a propeller that was missing and have also contacted Coleman company and am getting NO support still weeks later. Even though the motor is fine,It is junk without the propeller and searching the web for anyone with a prop for this motor is a waste of effort. ( There are none ) I have picked up a MotorGuide 2 blade Propeller kit Number MGA0476B from Walmart and it mounted alright ( need a nut that fits the shaft ) I will update when I try it in the water as I have not tested it yet. Otherwise I may just send the motor back to Leisure Pro

I've used this motor on six occasions on three different lakes. Used on a 9 foot raft with 500 pounds of load, this motor will get you moving (albeit slowly) even against a light current. Quiet, lightweight and easy to assemble and use. However the clear plastic propeller looks as though it could break if you yelled at it, be careful in shallow water.

I bought a small Sevylor trolling motor for my kayak. The motor worked perfectly and pushed the kayak great. For about 2 weeks. Then the switch started to act up. First the reverse disappeared, then the forward crapped out as well. I got in touch with Sevylor and they said there were no replacement parts for the motor. Great service.The motor worked great, but without the switch, it is useless. I am going to try to find a replacement at an electronic supply store, and with enough work, I am sure I can find one, but be aware of the "if the ashtray gets full, you will need to buy another car" mentality of this company.

the motor is pretty STRONG but what sucks about it is that the first day we took it out...the fan that is attach to the bottom of the motor fell out while spunning..and we were stuck in the river (THANK GOODNESS the water isn't going REALLY FAST)so my two nephew had to swim across with a life jacket while dragging the boat. Shipping and everything else it was great!!!
