Excellent "legal just about anywhere" EDC
I'm usually a fan of knives with locking blades, but a few people I trust were enamored with this knife, so I decided to give it a shot.I'm glad I did.As mentioned in other reviews, the short, non-locking blade and modified sheepsfoot design make this about as non-threatening as a pocket knife can be. This is great if you are in an environment where there are significant legal restrictions on knives, or simply somewhere that more traditional knifes might frighten or intimidate those around you. The low-riding pocket clip also contributes to this discretion factor. The blade itself is an excellent cutter. The thin, full-flat grind allows this blade to slice and push-cut almost effortlessly. While there isn't a pronounced point, the tip of that sheepsfoot works more than adequately for cutting through plastic wrap or blister packaging. The steel used in this knife performs a lot like the VG-10 used in many of Spyderco's flagship knives, and shares that same ease of sharpening and rust resistance. Like VG-10, this is also a fine-grained steel and takes a fantastic polish when you sharpen it.The full-flat grind of the primary bevel is immaculate, and perhaps much more impressive, so is the secondary bevel. I like Sypderco knives, but on a lot of their fifty-dollars-or-less offerings, that secondary bevel is ground a bit unevenly which can have a slight effect on performance and possibly a large effect on ease of sharpening, depending on what method you use. This is the first Spyderco I've gotten from Maniago, Italy and the craftsmanship really is in a class by itself. The fit and finish here are closer to the Taiwanese high end Spyderco knifes, like the Sage series.Don't worry about the wire clip. It's very strong, despite its light weight. It will also hold onto the pocket of thin pants like suit slacks. This knife has taken many laps to work while I wore suit pants, and it never came close to slipping out. The bend of the clip sits right on the smooth Spyderco logo, so it won't shred pants like some of the G-10 knives can.The backspring lock is adequate. It's about on par with a Tinker Swiss Army Knife (that's one of the ones with tools on the bottom, so the spring is only sized to half the knife; the back spring on a SAK Pioneer is stronger than this one). The jimping on the bottom and the mid-way stop point will keep your fingers nice and safe in the event of any accident. The only thing that would be dangerous to do with this knife is thrusting... when you can't do, because there isn't really a tip to thrust with.Weight is fantastic. Super light-weight. Haven't weighed mine, but probably clocks in right around 1.3-1.4 ounces. Just slightly heavier than the Dragonfly.Grip is also good. Even though the shapes are different, some usage on this one will teach your hand that the same three-fingered grips that work for the Dragonfly work great here, but I will warn you: large hands may be a deal-breaker here. That curve in the middle of the knife fits two of my fingers, but I have rather slender fingers. If you wear large glove sizes, you may want to look to a small knife friendly to larger hands. All in all, a really solid offering. While this knife was designed primarily for Denmark (their version of a UKPK), you would find yourself well-served by this knife just about anywhere.

More design than function but very appealing
Interesting little knife. It's not very Spyderco-like but I like the design. The shape is "different" but the ergonomics are better than one would think considering the odd shape. The tang area is jimped and serves as a bit of a choil so you can get a decent grip on the short handle. The curved blade is something of a modified sheepsfoot (the traditional sheepsfoot blade has a straight edge and this knife definitely does NOT have a straight cutting edge). An almost-traditional Spyderco feature includes a tiny blade hole that does not serve as a means of opening the knife. This is a two-hand knife, to meet Danish laws. The blade is non-locking. This is a slipjoint knife but, given the Spyderco touch, the blade has very firm detents at the halfway and fully open positions. It's unlikely any responsible adult will use this knife in such a way as to cause the blade to close accidentally. The place of manufacture is Maniago, Italy. This is the first Spyderco I've bought that wasn't made either in the USA or Asia. Fit and finish are excellent, as is the standard for Spyderco knives. The handle is unlined FRN with a checkered pattern and a molded Spyderco spider design. It's grippy although the shape takes some getting used to. The blade steel is N690. I'm not familiar with this steel but it seems to do its job well. The knife wasn't really that sharp on arrival but a Sharpmaker brought a fine edge up fairly quickly. This is not a heavy duty knife so I can't foresee any problems with edge-holding nor did I find any issues with its ability to be sharpened. This is a quirky little knife, more design-driven than all function and ergonomics like the usual Spyderco. It's not as ergonomic as the Dragonfly 2 which serves the same function and size range. It lacks a lock and a one-hand opening Spyder hole. I like it but my like is based on the design more than the functionality. Overall, I give it 3.5 stars. If you're looking for a knife that has these features and like the design, it should serve you well.

A charming small knife with elegant aesthetics and understated functionality
I had carried a dragonfly2 for about 3 years as my main EDC, and I was just looking for something similar to rotate in for it - not that I was dissatisfied with the dragonfly2. I was intrigued by the sheepsfoot blade, and I simply love the aesthetics of the knife altogether; its elegant and understated. If you love smaller sub-3" knives, I'd suggest giving it a try, but be aware of this one's peculiarity.PROS:- Small, lightweight, non-threatening sheeple friendly design- Good steel, and good edge out of box- Blade geometry is wonderful for slicing - reminds me of a mini kitchen knife- The slipjoint is pretty stiff so the blade won't close down on you TOO easilyCONS (ok, not really cons, but things to keep in mind)- Blade stock seems a tad thicker than it needs to be? in comparison to the dragonfly2 it is thicker- I added a ziptie through the spydie hole to imitate a thumbstud but the retention is so stiff, I ended up having to dig my thumb against the ziptie where it was hurting too much after doing it frequently. again, not really a CON since it was intended to be deployed using 2 hands- I wear size small mens gloves, and my pinky has no room to rest on the handle. for slight edc use, its not a huge dealConclusion: its a sweet lil knife. I think the collectibility of it, being a Vox/Anzo collaboration and a discontinued model, makes it easier to overlook some of the peculiarities of it. Great for home/office carry, but for anything outdoors-y i'll definitely tag in my dragonfly2.

Just a farmers 2 cents...
I don't want this review to come across TOO negative - first I will say this: I own several folding knives, this is my first Spyderco. Usually when I get a new folder knife I check the alignment of the blade in the handle while it's closed. All my high end folders are straight and centered while closed. This Spyderco came sharp and oiled and well packaged but is not straight while closed, that to me is a bit of a disappointment and the only knock on this knife. I paid $80 after tax and shipping - this isn't the most expensive knife I own but I was expecting a bit more attention to detail from such a reputable company. With that out of the way, I was suprised in how small this knife is, but I think it will be a fun addition to the collection. I would recommend it as being a small EDC for around the house for small cutting tasks like cardboard or string, paper etc...

Could definitely choose something else
When I was buying the knife I wanted something small and light to always have in my pocket. The shape takes getting used to. I feel like there are a few far better options for pocket knives from spiderco.

Not a North American Self Defence knife
This knife was designed for European countries with very strict blade laws. Completely useless in North America for self defence purposes however it is well built and neat to own.

Spyderco is a great company but this is my least favorite of their ...
Too thick. The weird sheepsfoot shape makes it awkward to cut with and the thickness makes it awkward to slice with.Spyderco is a great company but this is my least favorite of their knives.
