Easy and pretty! I wrote some tips to help you
I never leave reviews but I almost didn't by this product because of all the negative reviews, my husband said for $12 just try it for yourself and I'm so glad I did! I can't for the life of me do the rope braids on my own but with this tool it took like 2 minutes. Some tips I can share with you I think he other reviewers must not have done is brush the hair your twisting really well, I used a little bit of gel in my daughters hair on each section to make it straight and stay together, and make sure the hairs at even lengths when clipping it in the grooves, I held the machine out and slowly pressed the button as if twirled her hair (be careful not to over twirl it I did it at 1st and had to redo it), then I just followed the arrow and turned the machine that way until it was as tight as I wanted it (again don't over twist it) and the picture was the finished product from my 1st time! There are probably some YouTube tutorials of people showing you how to use it but it really was great and easy, I loved the result.

It was oversold on tv as a cool thing for young girls to do their hair
AWFUL! It was a Christmas present and it never worked from the beginning. It was oversold on tv as a cool thing for young girls to do their hair. We read the instructions and I (mom) was the guinea pig. It got completely twisted up and looked terrible. We tried on dolls hair, my hair several times. It's a dud! Not worth the money or effort!

I bought this hoping it would make twisting faster. It did not.
I think this is best for people who do not know how to twist. If you already know how to make a rope twist, then this item sucks. If there are short pieces of hair, it will leave the hair looking very frizzy. I can do a better job by hand even if it's not quicker. Also, there are cheaper options that will rotate both ways. For example: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07373DYRD/ref=dp_prsubs_3. However, my biggest issue was the fact that the end of my daughter's twists didn't look good to me. I had to complete the twists myself and her ends were different lengths after the twisting so this was a bit of a waste. I am attaching pictures of two different sized twists that I made. You can see the beginning and the ends. If you do purchase this product and you have different lengths: start higher up, complete the first part of the twist, have your daughter hold the twist taut while you take the tool and move it down a few inches, repeat until the twist is complete. Again, this was not faster than what I can do manually. My daughter's hair is 15-20 inches long cut in layers.

Great tool to twist fringe
I bought this to twist fringe on my weaving, not to use on a child's hair. This works great for weaving/twisting fringe. I purchased this instead of a traditional fringe twister because it's battery operated so you don't have to crank it.

but she likes it better when I use it on her because I can ...
I bought this as a gift for my 8 year old, she loves it. She is able to use it by herself, but she likes it better when I use it on her because I can do the back of her head which is a little bit harder for her. This tool only twists the hair, once that part is complete then you have to turn the tool manually to finish off the "rope look"

Didn’t like it
It was hard to use and didn’t work as I thought it would. It was tangling the hair and I could not use this

Just didn't work for us
Bought this hoping it would help speed up doing hair for my daughters but, it just did not work at all. Instead of making a pretty twist it ends up spinning the hair into a very tight twist more like a tangle. I watched video tutorials and followed instructions and still could not get a nice looking twist either by manually twisting the braider or by turning on the spinner. Even after removing the hair from the braider clips the hair would immediately unwind before I could even get a band or clip around the end. Both my daughters have long straight hair that I braid frequently and I know the Conair Quick Twist Braider is not meant to give you the traditional braid or really any braid just a twist of two sections of hair together but, for me all it did was make a mess of their hair. I was really excited to try this and I love the idea but, I could not duplicate the pretty twists that were featured in the instructions.

Holds well and doesn't bog down.
I] bought this to twist fringes of my handwoven scarves. . It works perfectly. It is much faster than my manual alligator clip twister. It holds the threads tightly and doesn't slip.

CAUTION: This does much of nothing
Pro:It spins the individual strands of hairCon:It does not twist the hair, you'll have to do that manuallyThe battery slot is secured with a mini screw, took a while to find the right screw driver to open it upNot really sure what it's for....

Doesn’t twist the hair firmly
I bought this hair twister for my girl, that is an ok product, it really doesn’t twist the hair pieces firmly, almost like you can achieve same result with your hands. I was not too much fan of it
