The red filter suppresses blue skies and makes clouds pop
I use this filter on a monochrome digital camera and it makes skies more dramatic by darkening the blue regions without affecting the white clouds. Here are some photos I took using it on my Pentax K3III Monochrome at Trona Pinnacles near Death Valley

Works as Described.
Improves contrast in my B & W shots, but not severely so. Makes for interesting effects when shooting color. Currently using on a Pentax K-r and zoom lenses, 18-55mm and 50-200mm. Well made; good threads and glass not loose in frame.

the filter works great! good contrast
the filter works great! good contrast, blacks are really black when you shoot in black and white. It does it job well! great buy.....

Super well manufactured
Super well manufactured, glass is immaculately smooth and red is uniform the whole way through - but be advised this won't simply add red to your shot, when you check your histogram, you'll see nothing but red.

Works great for a deep red filter
I used this for B&W photography. Works as expected.

Should have gone with Tifften
The filter is alright, but it seems to mess with my cameras' (plural) ability to focus. My sony a5000, my canon T6I, and my Olympus om-1 all had issues with drastic change in f-stop, which is expected with such a dark filter, but what seemed to be a bit worse was my inability to properly focus through the filter. That aside, it is also exceptionally difficult to clean. The only benefit I see is how greatly it pulls those red hues in the shadows, and washes away those blues. Takes quite a bit of getting used to. If shooting in manual, anticipate a one to two step lower exposure with filter on. Almost acts like a 1 step nd filter. Over all, not bad if you know what you're doing, but manual and auto focus may be a little tricky. Attached is a picture I took with in black and white (obviously) with my T6i at an f-stop of 1.8, shutter speed of 1/160, and in ISO of 400 with a 50mm lens. Not too shabby after a little bit of fiddling around with the filter, but I should have shelled out a couple of extra dollars for the Tifften equivalent.

Excellent filter for darkening the skies when shooting (or converting) ...
Excellent filter for darkening the skies when shooting (or converting) your photographs to black & white. You could just adjust your settings to approximate this filter in PS, but there is something to be said for doing it the traditional way.

Excellente qualité
Il s'agit de filtre Hoya donc pas de surprise, excellente qualité, très peu d'impact sur la qualité de l'image, à utiliser lors de prise de photo en noir et blanc, bref recommandé très fortement.

Good value for money
I use Yellow filters on my lenses to reduce the blue sensitivity of black and White film, plus it helps to slightly darken blue sky. Hoya filters are well made and have a good anti-flare multicoating. I own many Hoya filters and will happily but more when required.
