The queen!
A must see. A classic IMO. The one who started it all and one of my favorite eras.

Part of modern pop culture history
The title of this review might seem a little bit over the top, but seen now (19 years later) it definitely has become the most clear document of the influence Madonna has had on modern pop music and culture in general (fashion to just mention one thing - with the Gaultier cone bras and the signature fake pony tail), especially during the last decade of the 20th Century (which was her golden age) and marked the tone of what wannabe divas had to follow to be successful. But once they started to follow her steps she did not stay the same and shifted shapes in front of our very eyes. I am sure this movie has a lot fewer candid shots into the backstage world of her Blonde ambition tour than what she wanted the public to believe. Madonna likes to control eveything and I am sure she calculated a lot of how she behaved and what she said in the film. But it does not matter, because that is what her on-stage persona is and what has made her one of the greatest artists of our generation. I like the definition she gives of herself in one of the scenes: "I know I am not the best dancer or singer, but my mission is to push people's buttons and to make them think". She also says in one segment (talking to the press in Italy, about the controversy with the Catholic Church and her performance and use of Catholic symbols): "My show is not like any other rock show, is a theatrical performance...I do not endorse a way of life I represent it on stage...the public is left to make their own conclusions about what they see". She probably was not the first artist to be outrageous and not afraid of testing our comfort level, but nobody else took it to this level of spectacle and nobody has managed to stay in command of her own artistic decisions and also to remain current even after almost 30 years. I will probably seem ancient (even though I am only 34) but the kids who now have Lady Gaga as their queen (who, BTW, I consider the legitimate heir to Madonna's throne...though not yet!) should take a look at this documentary to confirm what "old" people like me are constantly saying: Gaga did not invent the "outrageous hypersexualized super fashionable diva style", that is all Madonna!, and this documentary is the proof. We need a DVD/Bluray rerelease of this and all of her old tour videos ASAP!!.

Madonna, Reina indiscutida, en una gira que cambió para siempre la forma de hacer grandes shows. El documental es además una pieza de época.

"Truth or Dare," review: Film & Blu-Ray
The film: This is the original theatrical cut that has been issued before on VHS and standard-DVD. It does not include any extra performances such as the full-length "Like A Prayer," or "Hanky Panky," included in other releases. The film itself is a good encapsulation of Madonna's "Blond Ambition Tour," as well as what life was moderately like for her on the road. The Blu-Ray: The Blu-Ray quality is good. The B&W scenes have the original grain intact and it was the director's intention to have that to show how grainy the real world is as opposed to the almost-grainless color performance segments. The DTS 5.1 Sound is good but I really do not prefer 5.1 for music as I'd rather have an extended-stereo mix for music to have a richer sound.Overall, if you are a Madonna fan you will buy this considering it is less than $10. If you do not have a copy of this movie, check to see if the other releases that include more special features are available first, and if not, buy this.CAUTION: For some reason, this Blu-Ray has six (6!) previews that you have to watch before the movie starts; but, press your chapter advance button and you can go through them quicker.PROS:1) Original theatrical version2) Great transfer preserving director's vision3) No dynamic noise reduction making everything look too perfectCONS:1) Sound is 5.1 DTS; I prefer Dolby Pro-Logic for music2) No special features contained in prior releases3) The trailer issue described aboveStrike a pose and Enjoy!

Well Done
Great editing. Beautiful candid look at the tour behind the scenes, hard times and good. Amazing concert footage and the story really flows, weaving together behind the scenes and concert scenes relevant to what's happening on the tour. Heartfelt and honest. Great storytelling.

Madge's always had it; She always will!
There's much to be said about "In Bed With Madonna" aka "Truth or Dare" but I won't get into the details of the film, seeing as there are already a couple of great reviews. An inside look at the grueling demands of a world tour in 1990, you see how the biggest pop star in the world at the moment handled the stress, fatigue, and let-downs of the rockstar life.Britney Spears tried it with Britney Spears: Stages with DVD and Lady Gaga emulated it with Lady Gaga Presents The Monster Ball Tour At Madison Square Garden [Explicit], but the rawness of the touring lifestyle was best showcased in Truth or Dare.We get to see the real Madonna: a strong-headed and witty perfectionist who takes her craft extremely serious. This documentary easily shows why this woman has had the success and accolades she has received. You can't expect success and global domination to just come to you and you take the Easy Ride [pun intended :)]- she shows that you have to work for it and once you get it, it's much more difficult to maintain.I have never had more respect for a woman in showbusiness- Madonna is a true philanthropist, nurturer, and most importantly someone who never pretended to be something she wasn't.Long live the queen.
