Based on the popular Stanley 750, these socket chisels combine a strong design with nice fine edges and good heat treatment. Socket chisels are an ancient design, while they were largely replaced by tanged chisels in the UK during the 1800's both designs remained popular in America. The handles are turned from Rhodesian copalwood, selected for it's hardness and dimensional stability, and are held in place by friction (same principle as a Morse taper). They hold remarkably well, when fully seated there is no way you can pull them apart with your hands, although for peace of mind it's worth getting into the habit of giving them a sharp tap before use. If you want to remove the handle, hold the blade and tap the side of the handle on a hard surface/bench and it will become loose. To re-seat it, tap the butt end of the handle on a hard surface/bench with the blade pointing straight upwards. CrV steel hardened to RC61 Sizes 1/4", 1/2", 3/4", 1"

Quality outweighs price
Actually cheaper on here than the sellers site.Excellent is all I can say for the price.Bit of pairing of the taper on handle and some flattening of chisel back then sharpen and boom nice set of chisels for fine work.Let's be very clear here at £17.50 a chisel less packaging I'm in complete shock at what you get,has to be bargain of the century.Seriously if your prepared to spend 45 minutes for all four chisels total to get them ready then you seriously need to consider these.I'm usually against buying untested manufacturing companies but these chisels and hand planes are a serious contender against the posh names especially considering quality to price ratio.
