An airbrush in line mini air filter, also known as an airbrush water trap, is an essential part of your airbrush kit. It will prevent water vapour and oil from contaminating your spray paint, causing it to split or to not atomise correctly - Small pin holes will be appear in the surface of the painted object.
- Why Might Your Compressed Air Contain Oil? Certain models of airbrush compressor have a lubricated piston which may cause the transfer of oil vapour to the spray paint via the airbrush air hose. The airbrush filter will effectively trap this on the fine grain inner medium. Clean air is especially important when using an airbrush to spray food colouring for cake decoration.
- Why Might Your Compressed Air Contain Water Vapour? Placing air through a mechanical process, such as compression (as with mini airbrush compressors used for acrylic nail painting and airbrush cake decoration or hobby airbrush compressors used for scale model paint) creates water vapour and heat. The water vapour condenses within the clear section of the mini air filter and is released by pressing a small spring loaded pin.
