100% recommended
Second one I use; already purchased 4 more for the othersThis time the sample I took wasn't good enough to perform all the tests, but still they managed to perform 146 out of 150, and very wisely started by the ones associated with my boy's breed, and offered a new kit free of chargeAgain: Lisa, and Christina, were warm and efficient, an absolute pleasure

Affordable peace of mind!
I've now sampled two dogs using this test kit. It's a simple, inexpensive way to screen dogs for a wide variety of genetic mutations. Very affordable peace of mind! The test kit includes very clear instructions, along with a padded return envelope, mouth swabs, and a sample baggie. The procedure is very simple! Register the kit online. Place the labels where instructed. Rub the swab inside of the dog's cheek (instructions are included), mail the kit to Canine HealthCheck. They will email when they receive the kit, and when your dog's results are complete. My results were available well before the deadline quoted. I had a follow-up question about my results, and received an email response the same day. Excellent customer service. This screen especially helpful for owners whose dogs have unknown medical history, such as animals adopted from shelters. But, it can be used as a tool for breeders, as well. Even if a person is breeding 'just one litter,' or several, the cost of this screen means there is no excuse for not testing dogs before breeding. There are MANY canine diseases which could be eliminated if people would use this test.A few tips: If your dog is especially wiggly, having someone else hold them while you sample is helpful. None of my dogs objected to the mouth swab, but didn't want to sit still for the entire time. Because two mouth swabs are used, one after the other, another set of hands is helpful for switching swabs/putting them into the bag without contaminating them. Last, make sure to fill out the label before sticking it onto the return envelope.

This was very cool! It was very simple to do a swab ...
This was very cool! It was very simple to do a swab in the cheek of our dog, and pack it up and send it off. Results came back in a very reasonable time, and had a plethora of information. This is the first time I have heard of a test like this, and was very impressed! It gave us a lot of information on Bentley's genetics. They were able to tell that he was a golden retriever, because he is a carrier of a specific skin disorder. I did receive this free from the manufacturer, but if you would like to know more about your dog I would definitely recommend this.

Easy to do and great information!
This is a great way to be proactive about your dog's health. We have a Havense, which we purchased from a questionable breeder, and I've been concerned that she might be at high risk for common inherited diseases. Fortunately she came back with no genetic risks, which was great news, and makes me less likely to spend the $50/month it would cost us to get her health insurance. While genetic testing is only a "blue print" of potential health concerns, and doesn't tell us for sure what health issues she will have going forward, this gives me a reasonable sense of security about her health. The kit was super easy to do, and the process was seamless. Highly recommend canine health check!

Quick turnaround & very informative test results.
It was much easier to swap the mouth than I thought! Our family dog is an English Springer Spaniel & won’t let you keep anything that goes into his mouth but he didn’t fight at all. It was extremely easy to get the sample. They sent me an email letting me know when they received the sample & another once the test results were ready. I did receive this free from the manufacturer but I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to know genetic information about their dog. They tested for a vast array of genetic diseases within the breed & outside of the designated breed which is nice to see if there are any crossbreed diseases.

Very Informative and Educational
I have never seen a test quite like this before! I have an Australian Sheppard that I adopted, or rather he adopted me, and I have always wondered about his health history. The process is easy to do, even if you have a dog as stubborn as mine! My results showed that my dog, Marley, is not at risk for any diseases but that he is a carrier for Hyperuricosuria. In the results, what it meant to be a carrier was broken down, as well as common symptoms for Hyperuricosuria, and a list of other breeds that are potential carriers was provided. I was a little nervous at first about doing this test on my dog, who has come to be a child to me, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to know how or if he was going to be sick but now that I know that he potentially could be, I feel more empowered as a pet parent. If you care for your pet as much as I care for Marley then I strongly recommend this product, if nothing else to be educated about your pets history and with that you can possibly help them in the future!

I could see this being extremely useful for dog breeders who want to avoid inherited diseases ...
This test was very simple to use. I just swabbed the inside of my dogs cheek, put it in the envelope provided and mailed it back. They test for a huge array of potential genetic mutations. Although I do not plan on breeding my dog, I could see this being extremely useful for dog breeders who want to avoid inherited diseases or traits. It gave me peace of mind knowing that my dog is healthy and did not inherit any diseases.
